Description
This is a collaboration with the incredible Daphna! I am so Honored and Pleased that she agreed to add her magical piano to my song.

I hope you like it as much as I do!

Lyrics
This is the story of woman who said
That her day was so long,
Thought she'd never find her bed,
She swore the sun was so tired
She watched it slip beneath a blanket of stars.

She went ahead and poured us both,
A long tall glass of fine red wine,
And proceeded to tell me that she's loosing her mind

(Chorus)
She's lookin for things she knows that she'll never find.
Wasting her days, Wasting her nights.
Lord knows wastin' too much time

I'm always jumping through their firey hoops,
She said, I'm walking their tight rope with my head in a noose,
All this concentration is reallly bringing me down.
It's funny the reward is never in sight, but the Illusion is blinding and she can't close her eyes,
Acting like a soldier at war, she's heading for the front line....

(Chorus)

She said I'm tired of all this running in place,
I just can't seem to keep up with the pace,
I'ts like a slap in the face when you don't even know what's wrong.

She took a sip of her wine and then she looked at me,
Does this happen to you, It's always happening to me,
Or am I result of someone's twisted joke?
Someones twisted joke?

I said go ahead a pour another glass of wine, I've got no where to go and plenty of time,
Tell me yours and I'll tell you mine,

Cause I know the story of woman who said
that her day was so long,
thought she'd never find her bed,
She swore the sun was so tired
she watched it slip beneath a blanket of stars.

Poetic and sad
It's a warm, poetic song. I like the simple acoustic
arrangement. Daphna's piano playing is excellent as
always. While I like your voice I think you could improve
on the pitch accuracy. You tend to go sharp a lot and on
a song like this it's pretty exposed. But the tone of your
voice and your phrasing sound great. There was some
mic popping that could be avoided by using a pop filter.
But you can also reduce the popping on what you have
already recorded by dropping out the bass on the track.
I've found that the most audible part of the pop and other
blowing-into-the-mic noise is at the bottom end of the
EQ and is quite isolated from the good part of the vocal
recording.

Poetic and sad
Thank You for the Tips! I actually just bought a wind screen for my mic. I wish I knew those tips awhile ago. Well, there's always room for improvement so I may redo these vocals with your advice in mind and using my new wind screen!

Liked this one a lot
Had no problems with the production at all. Be careful if
you decide to re-visit the vocals that you don't lose the
part that comes from the gut, which is what attracted me
in the first place.

Incredible songwriting
It conveys a lot of emotion and paints a very poignant
picture. Love the bookend verses. It immediately lets you
know the feeling behind the song and nicely wraps it up at
the end. Has the same sweet sadness you hear in tunes like
"Same Old Lang Syne." Beautiful guitar and piano combo and
I always love to hear Daphna sing. I agree with snowdragon,
there's a lot to be said about a take with a lot of good,
honest emotion. Great job to both of you. Enjoyed it very
much.

Incredible songwriting
Snowdragon & Jgurner;

Thanks for the words. I am really glad you appreciate the vocals and the way they are. I struggled with deciding whether to revisit them before posting. Maybe I'll just leave them alone now.

Yes and Daphna is AWSOME!

Oops, my bad...
Came back to D/L your tune and realized I got mixed up on the vocals. My
sincere apologies, Sista Mac. My bad. And the more I listen, the more I say leave
the vocals as they are.

Terrific!
A wonderful song. Sweet and powerful. Excellent tone from
the guitar, nice whimsical vocal and Daphna's piano helps
give the tune more balance. Very, very nice!

thanks everyone
for your comments. I enjoyed collaborating on this song - not really a style I've
done before, which made it all the more interesting and challenging. Thanks for
the opportunity SistaMac!
