Ember Ablaze

This is a variation on the song "Ember" by Drakonis. The original file can be found here. When I first heard the song, I instantly fell in love with it. It reminded me of the works of Richard D. James, AKA Aphex Twin.

In my mind, all that was missing was Richard's trademark IDM beats. So I contacted Drakonis and he gave me the GarageBand file for Ember. I upped the BPM just a tad, added percussion and sound effects, and gave the song a proper ending. The result? "Ember Ablaze".

Special thanks goes out to Eduard Schwan (AKA Drakonis), for the beautiful music he wrote. Hope you all enjoy my vision of Ember!

Tastefully drummed
OK, I admit to being initially somewhat skeptical that the
slow-paced Ember could be blended with frenetic beats,
but when I heard your first draft, I was quite excited to see
your creative vision, and it really did fit well. The initial
heartbeat was perfect. You used the rhythms judiciously,
and slowly built up the defibrillated pace, then dropped
away to the edge of life in the middle, and came back with
a vengeance at the end... very nice work indeed! Thank
you for taking this on, for being so gracious with my
suggestions, and creating something as enjoyable as this!
With creative drum beats like this, you'll be swamped with
collaboration requests in no time!

different spin
i really like the contrast of the beats against the background.
there is a quietness about this that pays nice respect to the
original version.. i could stand to hear a little more sonic
happenings, tho. as always, your percussion is top-notch.
nice stuff

My articulation is limited at the moment but, nice build-up,
great break-down, and smooth finish. The beats you put to
it really complement the original song well. I enjoyed it

Very Aphex sounding. I've been a fan of his for years.
This song is a great rendition. I am amazed at how many times this song
can be reinvented. He has an entire CD of versions now!

Very good production
It's weird for me to listen to Ember at this speed now. :)
I like the way the beats were made an integral part of the song - not just
pasted on. And you didn't go overboard.
