Lyrics
EVENING STAR

by Edgar Allan Poe
(1827)

'Twas noontide of summer,
And mid-time of night;
And stars, in their orbits,
Shone pale, thro' the light
Of the brighter, cold moon,
'Mid planets her slaves,
Herself in the Heavens,
Her beam on the waves.
I gazed awhile
On her cold smile;
Too cold- too cold for me-
There pass'd, as a shroud,
A fleecy cloud,
And I turned away to thee,
Proud Evening Star,
In thy glory afar,
And dearer thy beam shall be;
For joy to my heart
Is the proud part
Thou bearest in Heaven at night,
And more I admire
Thy distant fire,
Than that colder, lowly light.

Quoth the raven, "Nevermore."
Cool. I love the halloween stuff out here. Working on my own cheesy, scary sounding thing... :)

good edgey effects
I liked all the sound effects, good lead-up, and the effected voice, made
this sound cold indeed. But I would have liked it read a little more slowly
and deliberately, it almost seemed rushed. I thought you gave it good
emotional bite, sounded like you were almost hissing it through clenched
teeth.

good edgey effects
Heh, that's funny. I read this thing about 90 times, trying for the "right" mood.
Most of them were wistful and whispery, breathy. This on is too, actually, but
once I bit crushed it, and took it down a bit in pitch (not much) it got angry
sounding.

I like
You give time for the synthetic heartbeat to set mood before you bring in
the swirling noise, and then you give the swirling noise time to set mood
before you speak, and when you do it's a fierce delivery. Poe is fierce,
and should be read that way.

Thanks. Originally I had a heartbeat track on this, so decided to avoid it, since
I might want to try doing a longer piece (like the Tell Tale Heat), and maybe
use it there.

The delivery is that way because I didn't want to read it as some kind of
romantic piece.

scary
Intense. It's scary to hear talk of "joy" and "glory" in a voice like that.
Nice job.

scary
Thanks. I sound old and angry. I had fun doing this one. It's cool to play with
things not your own. Poe gets a little cheesy at times, and some things are
better than other, but this has long been a favorite of mine.

Duality
in the vocal track is awesome.

The overdriven whisper effect makes this really stand out. I liked this very much!

Duality
It's actually tripled. :)

Tack one and three are bit crushed a bit and pitch shifted lower a tiny bit.
One panned left, one panned right.

Track 2 is Orion vocals, in the center and not as loud.

All three of these made a nearly hiss free track get very hissy. I have just the
beats and cymbals originally. The Keyboard is brought in only as a wall of
noise to cover the track hisses.

I may do a remix, use the exact same file, but different vocal effects, see if I
can get a relaxed version. I do dig this one though and am proud of it.

Glad people are liking it.

Fearful star
Dark, intense and unsettling ... just as it should be. Very nicely
constructed, and powerful delivery.

That's a great idea themasses had ... I shall put this on automatic
repeat when the little blighters come knocking on our door ...

Smoldering
This makes me think of a fire, dying down after burning fast and hot, with
the voice as the wisps of smoke rising up from the still hot subsiding
flames and red hot embers. Very intense.

Thanks again for puting this idea forward. It's been a lot of fun.

Solid production and a riveting reading. Very nicely done.
