Open Mic Night

Description
It's been a long time since we posted any tunes. Not that we've been missed too much, ha. Oh well, this song is about when we play coffee houses. Thankfully, these places seem to have no shortage of beautiful college girls. One place in particular is so small and crowded we usually have to stand out on the sidewalk. That's where this song came about. We were outside practicing for our set, and looking through the windows.
It was so distracting. There was a solid line of girls with their backs to us. We decided to pay a tribute to that scene. Later that day, we recorded this with our normal coffee house arrangement, guitar and bass live in one take.
We'll admit it's rough and needs more lyrics.
Maybe we'll rework this tune someday.
Until then, enjoy.

Lyrics
Open mic night
see all the girls with their hineys in a row
Open mic night
see all the girls with the lights down low
There's an old lady
Caught me peeking in the window (oh no)
Open mic night
see all the girls with their hineys in a row
I love them so

1,2,3,4,5 (in a row) 6,7,8,9

Open mic night
see all the girls with their hineys in a row
Open mic night
see all the girls with the lights down low
There's an old lady
Caught me peeking in the window
(She wishes it was her)
Open mic night
see all the girls with their hineys in a row
I love them so

1,2,3,4,5 (in a row) 6,7,8,9
Wish they were mine

You haven't lost it
Still have a great way with words! This may possibly be the first use of the
term "hiney" in a song on MacJams. Glad to have you back!

Nice song guys
...hineys haha...you Americans with your cute phrases! This is a very
nicely performed track, I love the intimacy of the production and the
lead vocal is great

Nice song guys
Well Steve if he sang about a bunch of bums in a row, Americans would think
he was just singing about a bunch of winos . . . you know tramps!

You were missed
You guys always demonstrate real talent that shows through even the
roughest production. You know how to write and arrange simply and
creatively. It's always fresh and usually funny too. A little of the
Tenacious D spirit in there but a little more serious. This is a really good
tune and I think it could be developed further. It's ejoyable as is though.
An acoustic bass would be a nice addition to start.

Welcome back.

It's About Timey
you got your hiney back on Macjams! I actually did miss you and
wondered if something awful had happened like you had gotten jobs,
or gotten married and had kids! Like the song but somehow the
coffehouses I have played have never been filled with beautiful girls.
Oh, . . wait a minute, those weren't coffehouses, they were sleazy bars!
Jeez how could I forget?

Thanks all
Wow, who knew anyone would remember us.
We'd address all these nice comments individually but I'm afraid we're
too lazy, ha ha. Anyhow, thanks to all for taking the time to listen.
It's much appreciated!

Great stuff
Sounds like a nice scene. I've been to loads of open mic nights, but
they're not full of pretty girls but beery people shouting and making a
din so no-one knows what you're playing over the boomy in-house PA.

Great stuff
Thanks, yeah we were surprised by all the beautiful women in attendance.
We thought it was a fluke, so we went back the next week and there were the
same ones and then some. They seem to dig the more serious stuff or poetry
etc. Oh well.

Mellow - Jack Johnsonish tune
Cool tune - maybe hineys may not be the best.....maybe add 'smiles' in a row and you're going top 10!!!

Have fun and enjoy!
