These Tears (remix)

Get Flash to see this player.

This is actually one of my first songs, remixed by a couple of friends over at iComp, Jdwyer05 and jayman. I guess we could be called the three J's. Anyway, Jdwyer heard my original song and suggested that instead of the single guitar, it should have a more exotic bed. I re-recorded the vocals (the original song was done on the pinhole and sounded terrible when stripped of the music) and he added all of the music. Jayman then did the final mix and this is the result.

Are falling on my cheek
Are making me feel weak.

These tears are for you
These tears are for you
Briny tracks of regret
For what I can't forget
These tears are for you
These tears are for you

Of living without hope
A global slippery slope

These tears are for you
These tears are for you
Helplessly I watch you grieve
From Tibet to Tel Aviv
These tears are for you
These tears are for you

A prayer for release
Attuned to sorrow's cease

These tears are for you
These tears are for you
Hopeless victims, scared and poor
Praying for a global cure
These tears are for you
These tears are for you

listened to the original, but this mix sounds great. The vocals go really well with the exotic soundbed. I love the sentiment.

very very
deep ....love the way you stretch out and try diffrent approaches to carry
your vocals......this is a political statement and a timely one encased in a
vocal performance.....truly well done in your inimitable style.....!

I have been thinking about this song for a long time... and wanting to do some kind of remix!! They beat me to it! ha! This song is very powerful and deserves to be paid attention to... so for that I applaud Jdwyer05 and jayman.

In some ways, I appreciate what they have done with your song... with the exotic instrumentation, and so on. There are some areas it seems to work better than others... especially the areas where the music is slower. In other areas, where the music is more intricate and fast paced, I think it detracts from your voice. I would envision a much slower, moodier, and minimal accompinament, but this was certainly an interesting take.

Oh, and the newly recoded vocals sound great...!

afraid to listen
When I saw the picture I was afraid to listen to this, afraid it would make me cry.
Your voice is unbelievably strong and beautiful as is this song.
Also, this would be a good one to submit to www.neilyoung.com link in the anti-war protest forum.
Wonderful! :)

Hi, I'm Joanna (not Jo, that's someone else). Garageband has allowed me to indulge my love for singing beyond concerts in the shower. My favorite part of songwriting is writing the lyrics. This makes sense, of course, because writing is what I d... [see more]
