The Last Ride

Description
Composed with Soundtrack loops in 2003 just before Garageband was launched, this is a short but very dramatic piece.

Picture someone meeting someone else at the airport and then driving home. Who are these people? What happens in the car? Why does this have to happen at all?!

I was inspired to post it today after going to the Swedish premiere of Woody Allens movie Scoop (which was quite funny, actually).

well....
just as you say, you planted the scene in my brain - but it really
works...:-) Very movie like - If I was a film maker I would just love this.

Thanks for commenting
It's very condensed(?) so I'm not sure how it would work in an actual film, but
yeah...

you're having too much fun...
Part of me is sad that I listen to the loops, recognize them, and say
"yup, that loop, ah, and that one..." But part of me also smiles at the
fun you are having (and the fun I've had) with building good sounding
"stories in music" so quickly. You do capture some anxiety and tension
in the building of the music and sound effects, but for some reason it
still has your "humor" in it, so it sounds more like a "cartoon chase"
where nobody really gets hurt... I see Wiley Coyote chasing after the
Roadrunner in a rocket powered Volvo... the Roadrunner paints a cave
opening on the side of a cliff and runs into the cave. Wiley coyote
follows, but it is only a cliff for him, so he crashes. T H E E N D

Yeah, I guess
most MacJammers has tried those string loops sometime in the beginning of
things :-) Remember this was one of the very first pieces I put together in MacOS
(actually I did like 4 "songs" in Acid - with no finesse at all...) I am not sure I
follow you on the Roadrunner scene, but I am happy you see something funny
about it! As always, thanks Drakonis for listening and commenting! (Digression:
One daughter just approaching in the stairs singing your Grapefruit song... :-)

Nice and interesting
A very interesting track. The strings are beautiful. (Though I personaly
would have liked it more without the crash).

Thanks Cori
for listening and commenting! In a way I agree with you, it is rather upsetting
and not a recommended listen in the car or before going for a ride, but like
Drakonis points out, those strings are loops that quite a few people know
already. This finale somehow makes the difference - or that is imho.

The Last Ride
I like this! I can definatly see the picture you've painted...The strings also remind me of the Beetles song Norwigian Wood...You should get with a film student and allow them to build a short film upon this track.

One Christmas I bought a Casio CTK-611 with midi capabilities. I played on it as I had played the piano back home. But it took a few more years until at last I got hold of a copy of Apples Soundtrack, again right before Christmas. I assembled a few s... [see more]
