Description
We didn't consciously set out to tell the story of the Amoco Cadiz in musical form. But that's what happened. Music can sometimes be as unpredictable as heavy shipping.

N.B. In response to feedback regarding the low volume of the track, this is a pumped-up MP3, digitally remastered to enhance your listening experience...!

Lyrics
There was a great grinding crunch
there was a rush of air
from the pump room fans and the pump room itself
the ship was blown open
and in about 8 dead seconds
the front of the bridge was covered in crude oil.
I think the ship was ruptured by way of the pump room
That is, the forward bulkhead of the pump room

There was crude oil, crude oil, there was crunch
There was crude oil, crude oil, there was
There was crude oil, crude oil, there was crunch
There was crude oil, crude oil, there was Rupture Rupture Rupture

("Who are you.....?"
"....an invisible horse")

Hooves of life
clip-clop beneath the sea
a cunniondorfic sound
gamely I cling to your sea sodden mane

And I don't advise
when a tugs required
cause we were drifting toward
towards the shore
where the deals are done
where this yarn was spun
by a blue lagoon
in the afternoon

Time to check the map
and avoid mishap
well it was given to me
and it was washed away
Then a seagull cried
something in it's eye
for we had run a ground
with a grinding sound
somewhere down the line
somewhere in the brine
now it's a black lagoon
in the afternoon

("... ladies and gentlemen...Mr Morris Cunniondorf Wethat")

We'll rant and we'll roar
like true British sailors
we'll rant and we'll roar
All o'er the Worlds seas
until we strike soundings
in the channel of old England
from Ushant to Scilly
is 35 leagues

("...and if you'd like any more information about the audio fables please don't hesitate to contact....")

And that Pedalo confusion
a banana boat delusion
listing badly like a galleon
that's been holed upon the shoreline
It's the smell upon a stiff breeze
a compartment full of swiss cheese
that has sprung a leak while bobbing
in the moat the mice are sobbing
They are trapped in their illusion
fighting pedalo confusion
...and so are we
...and so are you

They are trapped in their illusion
fighting pedalo confusion
...and so are we
...and so are you

interlude

Are you sick and tired of your old supertanker
why not pop down to Morris Cunniondorf Wethat's
Supertanker warehouse.
We've a selection of new and used Supertankers for you to peruse
and you'll be amazed by his incredible part exchange deals
so if heavy freight is your business
then we want to do business with you
Morris Cunniondorf Wethat
Now that's what I call
a super tanker

crazy good
like the sound mix everything. I dont know why but this reminds me of beck. Hope that is not a insult, very cool My kind of music. The change in the toward the middle is excellent, a listening experience I will share with everyone I know. oh by the way the middle evil english castle part was classic. Come on guys you are pro pop star producer somethings right. hiding behind some obscure name just to see what we here mere macjamers will think, just kidding. Cant get over this the only person to come close would be Country Joe. take care fellas Im a fan now make more music

Greetings
A return to Moot Point has been, er, mooted, but in the meantime, thanks very much. I only had time in the cafe to listen to your first song. I heard a lot of textures in a very short time. Will explore further. Peace.

I'm only a third of the way into this piece
and i've already heard three songs i really like. you got my vote - here come the la la las - ok i'm hooked - started off thinkin TV on the Radio - but now i'm in a pub with some hooligans and some guy wethat who's got a groovy swing happening - don't know if i can keep up with the changes - but i won't give up - tasty guitar part here - nice multitracked vocal - what's next? - some proper piano interrupted by sonar and shortwave radio and that guy wethat flogging his wares - oh no - disaster at sea!
dare i ask for part 2? keep it comin boys.

Disaster never sleeps Bud. We try to master it, and end up becoming the masters of disaster.

This song rawks. I'd give it straight tens, but I think the mastering still needs a little work. Downloaded!

Yup
Your right about the mastering but the thing had such a hand tooled charm we were loath to polish it to much.

I LOVE this track. The way it started gave me a 60's/70's type vibe, then you completely changed it up. Completely impressed inspired!!

Thanks for the headsup - you were correct! What an amazing piece of creative wandering! I hear so many bits in here - this must have take some time for sure. How did you think of all this is the first question, the second being how did you put it all together?
Very impressive!

Well it's like this...
2 years ago, the 3 of us convened on the south east coast of England in a dark basement. A book was flung in my direction. Opening a page at random I sang the first thing I read "..there was a great grinding crunch...". Perfect.
3 days later we had over 2 hours of material which was then pieced together over a couple of months into the 8 minute audio fable you have before you.

A return has been mooted for early next year.

regards
Jon of Cunniondorf

Really cool groove
this is really groovy, it's much different than the standard and works well. Nice touch with the up beat and then the middle where it changes up... I can tell a lot of work went on here... Like the genre... very experimental. Thanks for sharing.

Experimental music is any music that challenges the commonly accepted notions of what music is. There is an overlap with avant-garde music. John Cage was a pioneer in experimental music and defined and gave credibility to the form. As with other edge
