Wait for me - written by Kim Robben

Verse 1:
We were happy - we were lovers
There wasn’t anything that we couldn’t face together
Ya we were best of friends – you had me heart and soul
You made the world a brighter place – you made me whole
That was us – way back when – that was us

Verse 2:
Then the night came - It happened so fast
In a moment everything we had was in the past
The world came crashing down – was nothing I could do
I couldn’t turn back time – to find my way back to you
You were gone – ohhhh – you were gone

I hear you laughing in the wind – it happens to me every day
But you’re not there again - and your laugh just fades away
Could it be - standing in the pouring rain
Is it you I see – turning into mist again
Wait for me ohhhh wait for me

Verse 3:

Wherever you are – is where I want to be
I need your love to make things right again oh can’t you see
Without you in my world - my life is so wrong
Oh I’ll walk into the night and stay there from now on
To be with you ohhhh be with you

Repeat ending:
Wait for me - I’ll meet you in my dreams tonight
Wait for me - I’ll see you when I close my eyes
Wait for me ohhhh wait for me

I am new at this and terrible at recording. So this is just recorded straight into my computer from my bedroom. Very low tech.

Solid presentation
Solid, earthy vocal and some excellent accompaniment on the piano, reminiscent of some of Floyd Kramer AND Larry Knechtel's works.

Nicely done, Kim. ;)

You put your whole heart into singing the tune but just as much in writing the words. Maybe you don't know this but I've loved this song since the first time I heard it. You and FinalSaga make a magical song-writing team and it's interesting after all this time to know his real name! It's a wonderful song - You really have the gift, sweetie!

What a beautiful song
Lyrically this is an excellent song. And as far as recording goes, the only thing that'll make you get better at it is doing it and getting feedback from others. But don't take everything that's said as gospel. Remember, we're all learning how do be better than we are. Just listen to what's said and see if it works for you. You have the talent needed, now only time and experience is needed.
That said, here are a few suggestions.
Take what you have now as a place to start and add a bass line to it by bringing it up in the mix so it drives the song a little. Same for the drums but not quite as much as the bass.

Also there are some key places in this song where a good harmony part would fill out the vocal pallet such as in the chorus and tag lines at the end.
Finally mix the piano back a little farther into the mix. Not much, just a little. and bring a rhythm instruments up in the mix so that it can compliment the bass and drums.

You have a gift for words and music, now we'll work on the mix to make this the outstanding song it is meant to be

Keep at it and you'll get where you want to be.
