Lyrics
So I picked up the phone, but I put it back down
Cos I know there ain't nobody there
Somebody said that they saw you in Memphis
You were happy, and had cut your hair
I don't know what's gonna happen now
But I don't want to hurt anymore
It always seemed so simple, but it's not so simple
anymore

How did it get so that I don't know where you are
Was I just some kind of fool
I always imagined the two of us together
But I guess I broke every rule
Baby I just want to tell you I'm sorry
But maybe that's not enough
And maybe you don't want to hear it, but baby
Where are you tonight?

Oh no, Losing in Miami seems the only thing left to gain
Oh no, Losing in Miami, where nobody knows my name

Will I ever be part of the world that you're living in
Do you have a place for me?
If you can't come here, then I'll gladly go there
Just tell me where you want me to be
I'm running along on a beach going nowhere
Everything stops at the sea
There's too many miles between Memphis and Miami
For you heart to ever find me

Oh no, Losing in Miami seems the only thing left to gain
Oh no, Losing in Miami where nobody knows my name

Shredding tears
Stop hurting, friend. Then I can rest easy, too. Nice job on this. Sounds like a real song from a real radio station.
davisamerica2 said 4237 days ago (February 10th, 2008)
Wado
(Cherokee for "thanks' ) I should inquire our friends at the radio station if they feel the same. I suppose I should first make some friends at the radio station. Thanks for the encouragement.

Lovely
song and excellent sounding. Lovely keyboards, guitars and vocals - I agree with Richard above - sounds straight off the radio.
DA2? - confused now - it's all too much - maybe its just me seeing double?
Cheers
Len

Losing in Miami. Sorry for the confusion about davisamerica (jack) and davisamerica2 (terry). Jack helped me establish my place here on macjams, but sadly to say: here in a world reserved for creative minds, my creativity suddenly abandoned me, and when he asked me what I wanted to call myself, I said "I dunno." So he loaned me his name. It is appropriate though, for we are identical twins. Quite a freak of nature though, seeing as how we have different parents. Oh, and Pat (Outaorbit) is our identical cousin. We all live in Davis, America. Come visit. We're on the map. We even have a postcard.

As for investing in beach front property, I think that once you factor in global warming, you might want to put your money in Oklahoma. The sandy beaches may look a little green from cow manure, but the mountain oysters will be to die for!

Croce
Im hearing Croce in this, Really nice tune guys!

Wow I'm really loving this, too much to absorb to get specific,
it just sounds great guitars, organ and so on...
davisamerica2 said 4237 days ago (February 10th, 2008)
Croce?
Now that's a compliment! Thanks a lot! I loved that guy, and curse him for not living longer, and giving us more. Thanks again.

Good one
At first the guitar fx put me off (makes it sound out of tune), but once the band joined in it made more musical sense. Wouldn't mind a straight acoustic sound instead though.

Very good song, very classy production, and nice playing and singing. That first acoustic is still bugging me though.

Love the steel - could take some more of that.

Cheers from Oz,
Neil

for the kind words. The bare acoustics still sound naked to me when I perform this song, so I think you might have something there. Will consider your input, and work on it till it suits us both.

I loved
this the first time and it sounds great now too. I love the little touches here and there like the steel guitar, but the vocal, lyrics and performance are really top notch. It sounds like I've always known this song it's so comfortable sounding. Should be aired on the radio..... Regards M

This might be one of the best songs
...I've heard in a while. I think you should take any effect off your voice you have and bring it up some. Rather double it than the chorus thing. I can be somewhat shy about my voice. Yours fits beautifully here on this track.

Sounds like my old Wurlitzer!
A melancholy tune with a sad sounding organ behind it. Just what I need with these fall colours around me. (Do they have fall colours in Miami?)

Yes, I love what he did here. "Everything stops at the sea," so I guess that includes Fall colors. Can't imagine them comparing to Tennessee's though. My roots are in White County. Pretty place. Thanks for the listen and comments Vic. Terry

Miami
Very nicely done. The playing is good, but the singing is what really makes this great; the inflections in the vocals make it clear that you're feeling what is sung on a deep level, not just reciting the lyrics. To me, that totally makes the tune. Nice work!
