Man-Blind (Spitlogic Remix)

 Genre: Hip Hop-Rap

Get Flash to see this player.

This is my version of Spitlogic's "Cult of Anubis". This was a blast to put together. I even broke out an allen wrench on my guitar to get some of these sounds.

I kept it pretty simple to let the lyrics stand out. Hats off to Spitlogic for offering up such a great track. Enjoy.

I stand in a hall of mirrors
The right path in the wrong direction
No protection from the self that I try to hide
Or these corny cliques that I try to ride
Is it pride that compels me to refrain from asking
to be rescued from myself in the heat of passion
The subtraction of mind from the man is no man at all
Yeah I planned to ball
Champagne kisses looking good and standing tall
While some are jealous and demand I fall
Green zealots making moves to one day be in command of all
Im a door in a land of walls
Othello in a land of Pauls
Some would argue I'm no man at all
I cant rely on my fans at all
And refuse to play this game like a baby on my hands to crawl
If it were up to the industry they'd ban us all
No reliance on the self they'd destroy all faith
And dangle falsehood in front of our face and hope we take the bait
false prophets in a land of credit cards and real estate
I search for the realest state within
Drinking from an angel's tear
None of us are strangers here
Most of us have anger where they've tried to instill fear
I cant afford to deviate
It is up to me to mediate
What's here and what's beyond the plate
This might not be food for thought
Depending on your school of thought
Or if you fought the lies they taught
Caught in the crossroads
We're all old
the soul lived before there was an earth to spin
Our death is just a birth again
I have a message for the planet, so I hope its worth the pen
And paper that I used to write it
If Im on a tangent it because sometimes I get excited
Life is a party, to tell the truth you're all invited
Bring your own hope and some for us that don't have it
Bring your own hope and some for us that don't have it...

Thats the internal battle every man has got to face
Shake that devil off and let your true self take its place
Man blind
Man find one's self in a world that has seemed to have lost its damn mind
It's not hard to understand mine
But sometimes the prose looses me
I choose to be
The few of us that would refuse to be
Devil's advocate
I'd rather stand and battle it
Outnumbered and surrounded I am still willing to challenge it
I have a lineage that I have got to try an keep in tact
My legacay in melody, turntalbes, and speaking rap
every cell and particle
Defines the ontological
Defies negative molecules
I wish the way I felt could truely become apart of you
The best that I can do is make this music from the heart for you

cool nick! awesome sounds you wrangled outta your guitar. especially like the sliding siren thing. Is that the allen wrench across the strings? sounds like an eBow. bass is killer. great job, man.

Yeah the siren sound is an ebow and a slide. The allen wrench part comes in at 1:46. I used to actually keep an allen wrench in my guitar strap when I was in my last band. I'll post one of those tracks soon.
This was a fun experiment for sure.

That is a nice sound-bed you made for this. Very full. Love the way you came in on the 2nd verse. I'm glad I don't have to judge between the best remakes of this. I would never make it. Thank you so much for putting another life to this song. It is deeply appreciated.

There would be no way to judge the versions because they have all sounded great so far. Thanks for putting this out and letting us remix. I've been dying to do some more rap lately. It must be cool to hear all these different versions over your vocals.

great take
on this one. reminds me of something from the Judgement Night soundtrack back in the day (remember wher they had bands like mudhoney and helmet record with different hip hop guys?). really like this, especially theh ebow going into the chunky stuff.

Judgement Night
Oh yeah, I remember that CD. My brother was way into that cd and movie back then. I love the ebow, I can always seem to find something to use it for.
Thanks for listening.

great lyrics
Well Spitlogic gets all the credit for the lyrics (they are great). The heavy feel of this song just came natural to me. I'm trying to write in other genres as well but keep ending up heavy. Oh well whatever works.
Thanks M.

I did a lot of rap before I got back into playing music just recently. I did a little back and forth with Spitlogic on the second verse, but otherwise all the vocals on this are his.
I maight post another one of my rap tunes at some point.

I've been moving way too much in the last few years and somehow eventually ended up in Texas. Funny how things work as I never saw myself here. I've been playing music in some fashion or another since I was 16 and love it. Its been great listening... [see more]
