A song about being young, driving around town on a summer night with your girlfriend, and listening to tunes. Does it get any better than that?

Lyrics
the sunroof song

i like the way this evening's shaping up to be
a warm summer night, the day was hot as hell
driving with me in my car
to no place in particular
you're laughing at a joke
i just tried to tell

and sometimes i think that you might not know
how much you mean to me
some things are better left unsaid

the sunroof's open
your hair is just flyin'
you sit beside me
and kiss me while i'm drivin'
i've got a song in my head
i keep singin'
play the radio loud
until my ears start ringin'

you smiled at me and said "stop the car"
and you got out into the warm summer night air
your body seemed like it just had to move
as the headlights lit the stage for you
and you danced for me
like you didn't care
yeah, you danced for me
like you didn't care

and sometimes i think that you might not know
how much you mean to me
some things are better left unsaid

the sunroof's open
your hair is just flyin'
you sit beside me
and kiss me while i'm drivin'
i've got a song in my head
i keep singin'
play the radio loud
until my ears start ringin'

Really nice
Really nice tune a lot of us can really relate to. The vocals are really strong and the harmonies are just right. Good licks on the guitar too.

I'd love to hear a good recording and mix of this. This sounds like a field recording and has a loud deep hum over it all and the rest of the tone is very tinny. But I don't get the impression that getting all of that worked out was the point at the time, just recording a great tune and getting it down. But in the meantime you could get rid of the deep hum by EQ'ing all of the bottom end out of the recording since none of the wanted parts of the audio are at all down in that range.

Thanks
Thanks for the comments, Peter - yeah, I unfortunately live in an old house with lots of weird noises that seem to come through in my recordings...I've been experimenting by recording in different rooms, etc., and hopefully I can get it dialed in right.

Thanks again.

Nice Song Dave
Very well written and sung. The guitar part works for it just fine, but like Peter, I'd love to hear it with a full blown production on it. This is a killer love song my friend, and would knock your sock of if it was done with a full band behind it.

Anyway, I like it as is and look forward to hearing it as a produced demo Dave.

Be well and be cool,

Ed
