the dead go fast

Description
This is dark, cold, 80s-style electropop and the "B-side" to "electro cute".
The song is about "mannequins spéciaux" or "special dummies", which was the name of the fresh corpses the Renault Car company used for their crash tests in the late 70s-early 80s (I suppose other companies were are still doing that kind of research). As someone said: "the dead go fast, especially, if they're motorized". Quite your uplifting sunday morning tune!

Lyrics
There’s a notion
The dead go fast
Towards the past
And oblivion
In slow motion
We dead go fast
Towards our last
Car collision

A Safety belt
Around our chest
Afactory’s
Our cemetery
Meat that once felt
In metal melt
No memory’s
our salary

Special
Dummies
After the test
Oh We will all
Rest
In pieces

WOW
That's dark. Puts me in mind of Gary Numan's stuff. Excellent!

thanks
I think that sort of synth song should have a fitting topic, as Numan songs did.

You're a electro-pop master.

Let's Go For A Ride
CJ you are amazing. A true pioneer. Kraftwerk would've never happened without your influence.

This is so dark and beautiful. That minimoog sound is stunning. I can't believe this is the B side!

Lavalamp is right, this is a "Sunday Afternoon Tune".

Thanks for the excellent download. I put a new stereo in my bus, so I'll be cruisin' without my seatbelt with this on repeat. Yeah, I'm the not so special dummy in the front seat.

don't talk about kraftwerk
Kraftwerk were still a western-swing band, when I met them in Lubbock back in 58. I taught them synthesizers and my german accent. They never thanked me.

Ungrateful Robotic Losers
I always said those guys were bone heads. Too bad their mothers named them after their dogs.

Rolf still slobbers at my feet during dinner.

I can see Gary Numan doing this live
Reminiscent of a German/Australian band called Dyko (look them up on myspace) who I saw and had lunch with last year - they actually have one of the original guys from Kraftwerk playing live with them on European gigs.

The lyrical topic is nice and dark and matched by the playing.

Great stuff!

I apologise for not getting to your songs over the past month or so - I'll fav you now so I get emails.

Cheers from Oz,
Neil

really
glad you liked this. I checked the band you wrote about and they've got tastes close to mine, obviously.

I liked the way Kraftwerk described their music as being "blues". The deshumanization is the cause and not the consequence. that's what I like in this music.

Really like your delivery
the lyrics and phrasing are great. Reminds me a bit of Yellow Magic Orchestra mixed in you some of the darker San Francisco electronic outfits like Tuxedomoon. Excellent.
