Invention #10

This (along with #16) is yet another little idea I developed as an experiment constructing a theme based on a rhythm section. Writing and chopping up the drum parts has been fun - lately I've been exploring the more percussive textures that can be created via mandolin. I'm probably most pleased with the breakdown.
Hope you enjoy this little nugget.

Nice opening hand...
Welcome aboard Michael! I hope you stick around. This is the best online music community that I've found.

This piece is energetic and engaging. What is the instrument breakdown on this? Is it all loops? Or do you play some of the instruments?

Very enjoyable!

Be well!

Hi Mike, thanks for the comment. The only thing looped in this one is the drums section, which I chopped up, arranged, and pieced together into a pattern I thought was nice sounding. I'll put some more info up on the page regarding the recording process when I get a few minutes, as well as update my profile info... thanks for listening

Man that is tight
I not only love the sounds you are getting from the mandos, but also from the background drums, percussion, and other effects. You sure are getting some fantastic sounds from your instruments and effects. Very, very cool.

Wow another great tune. I just love the way you put things together - both compositionally and instrumentally. This is fun, another piece full of energy. Great percussion. And a nice warm sound from the mandolin. Welcome again to MacJams. Hope you share more of your stuff with us.

DL is up.
Hey hey guys, thanks for all the great thoughts on the sketch. Both "Inventions" up on the site are now available for download - feel free to save 'em, remix 'em, jam to 'em, tweak 'em, whatever you find interesting. If you do end up reposting a remix under your name though, it'd be nice if ya cited the original too ;)

Enjoy ladies and gents, I'm flattered you dig 'em.

Very nice ..

.. I hear shades of Peter Gabriel's "Solsbury hill". This one really cries out for some bass and vocals, fine rhythmic bed, quite New age/world. Mix is very good.

Another entetaining piece
you seem to have arrived with a fully developed style. Kind of pan ethnic and jubilant. Just right for the moment - at least the way I'm feeling at the moment. Excellent use of delay in parts. That is what I'm hearing is it not?
