The flute on this piece is done by a very gifted flute player by the name of Melinda Eckels. You will hear Melinda on any of the songs where I use flute. Her abilities have spoiled me so, that I can never use keyboard or my limited flute skills ever again for my songs. I miss playing with her on a regular basis because every time she played it was always a little bit different and yet always appropriate. I was just as entertained as the audience listening to her.

nice work - thanks for the info on Melinda - her contribution here is very lovely. Piano in here is is great, and I especially like the drum sound - it's perfect for the song.

nothing like real performance...
But that goes for the piano work here too, which is beautifully flowing... but I agree the flute is gorgeous here too. Nice songwriting, very pretty work. The guitar seemed ever-so-slightly loud, or possibly had too much treble-bite, the only thing I could come up with to critique :-) Loved this.

guitar treble bite
Yes I agree, the guitarist really liked this sound. I found it too harsh and always too loud in the mix. He didn't think so.

here here!
drak says guitar is a bit loud and i agree (again...hehe). The mix just sounds a little off to me. The piano and flute seem to get lost amidst the drum and guitar.

This is beautiful. Lovely composition. Your piano playing is wonderful and the flute is just gorgeous. You're right, really adds a 3rd dimension to the sound having a live performance. Nice movement to this with the slow 6/8. Love your little flourishes in the piano. Great stuff!

Piano and flute sound beautiful and do full justice to this great composition. That flute is really good! The guitar is up front and sounds a bit harsh and "squashed" - was it recorded using a pick up rather than a microphone? Just nit picking about the guitar - this is still great.

Guitar pickup
Yes good call I believe it was his pickup. This was recorded by the guitar player and at the time and I didn't know any better. Now that I am on my own I have learned that the right mic is a better way to go. The one thing I have learned from recording on my own is I can make an adequate recording but a sound engineer who is an artist can do so much more.

I love
anything Celtic. This is so evocative of a dance in green fields. Piano and flute are especially sweet. Thank you.
