Snowy Samurai Garden Fight

I have a confession to make: I prefer Garageband. I promised a while back to take some time off to figure Logic out. I have spent time figuring out Logic, and here's my short-term conclusion: I would rather for now be very good at making something on Garageband than okay at making something on Logic. Getting good at Logic obviously takes years. I'll stick with what I know so long as I'm having fun. Plus, I recently got a MIDI keyboard, and Garageband is again awash with possibility for me.
This song specifically was inspired by the showdown scene at the end of Kill Bill Vol. 1. I could never come close to the profound greatness that was RZA's soundtrack for that movie. I just wanted to create something evocative, and a sword fight between two samurais in a snowy garden was what I feel like I ended up with here.
I am very interested in hearing anyone's take on adding a vocal track of some kind. My favorite form of music to create is TripHop. That genre was the original intention of this song, but I'm just not sure I got there. If a singer or rapper feels otherwise, please please please tell me. I'd like to have another go at this track.

Yo im really feelin both of these tracks alot. check my page and see if you like my vocals. if so we should definitely collab man. props.

P.S. the song was left off the man page because only a single post per author is put on there. if you post 5 songs in one day (or two, or seventy) only the last one you post will be there.

Nice one. I dont think it needs vocals. You achieved your goal because the track has a kind of Ennio Morricone vibe.I think you should give Logic another try especially if you shelled out the money for it. Theres a lot to learn but It can do so much more than garageband. Have you tried Logic's Ultrabeat and Sculpture synth?

sounds and vibes with a twist of modern feel. I imagine a Samurai getting ready for battle.

Excellent work!

To me this sounds more like the music BEFORE the big fight than the actual fight music. I can see a guy preparing himself, sharpening swords, doing jumping jacks etc lol.. whatever samurai's do to get ready. And now I see Ancient already said this... so I second his opinion. Maybe, if its intended to be the big fight music, you should add a slightly more "intense" part in there. Maybe signifying somebody dying or the climax of the battle. Just my two cents.

i agree
on further listens, it does sound more like the warmup. i will probably come back to this there later. the japanese flute instrument i was playing with on my MIDI keyboard was a lot of fun. the modulation made it a blast to mess with. if you're interested, shoot me a note and i can send you parts to mess with yourself. thanks.

I like making beats. The kind of beats I aspire to make are generally funky, dirty, spacey, and largely hip-hop or electronica related. You will also be hearing more flamenco from me, both electronic and classical, as I continue to get a better gras... [see more]
