Description
Particledots (Bryn) posted up an open collab track called A N a few weeks back, I really liked the Enoesque melodic feel of it so thought I would have go channelling my inner Bowie. So here it is - a slice of electronica urban angst!

Particledots - music
Steve - vocals, additional synths and volume swell guitars

what a great voice!
The voice reminds me of bauhaus or nick cave! I really like it, dark and ... Enoesque, yes. Electro-pop sounds too perky as a genre; maybe electro-goth or something might be more appropriate.

Thank you
Yes this is probably a bit moody for electropop hehe.....MJ's doesn't currently have a genre for Electro goth - maybe we should start petitioning? I grew up near Bedford which was a big goth town (and still is) so I guess this maybe have had some subliminal influence on me!
Cheers

Inner Bowie
Love it. I think the vocal is a great complement to the music (I didn't hear the original, but I will be checking it out right away) and the lyrics are nice and evocative. This has a glamorous, elegant feel to it. Very cool. NIcely done to both of you. Peace.

Cheers for listening, the lyrics on this one came quite quickly and I guess are a kind of 'snapshot in time' to fit the moodiness of the track.
Cheers

Thanks
Appreciate the compliments...if feels strange to be singing more on collaborations as I still don't really see my self as a singer. I started singing in 2005 purely as a necessity to get song ideas across, but it is fun to try and push the boundaries and use my rather limited voice in new contexts. It of course helps to have such great music from Bryn to add to!
Thanks for listening!

This came out really well...
Captured and focused that Enoesque vibe really nicely. The track seems to have suited your voice, Steve, and it lets us hear you in a slightly different setting...

I really like it...

Yes it was nice to try a different setting, I have worked with Bryn before on some cool collabs (Regent's Park with Sonic Magpie, and Deeper than Blue with Bibanova)...his music is very evocative and very enjoyable to work with

Hiya Steve
I think this is absolutely brilliant. I am hearing so many things when I listen to this ranging from Rob Shaw's stuff with Stylophonic (your vocals) to John Foxx era Ultravox to to Suede to the other references that people have mentioned here.

I agree with your statement about the urban angst...it fits perfectly with the instrumental track and I have to say I wouldn't have thought of making that association myself...but as I say, it works perfectly

For some reason this tune makes me feel sad...but when I say that I mean sad in a good way, very similar to a tape that Dave Griffiths made for me once called 'The Blue Tape' which consisted of tunes like 'Don't Leave' by Momus.

I really love this song

Hi Bryn, glad you enjoyed this version, it was a pleasure to work with these tracks. When I first heard your posted version I had a clear idea of the kind of melancholic, urban alienation theme this could have. Along the lines of "Always crashing in the same car' off Low I guess. It's nice for me to do something in more of an electronic pop vein for a change.
Cheers

I thoroughly enjoyed this... wonderful lyrics and vocals. You have a nice baritone - reminds of a cross between Iggy Pop and David Sylvian. Really good stuff!!

Steve and Bryn
You go together so well. Brilliant sound bed and great lyric/vocal. Downloaded for further listens. I think this is one that will definitely turn into a good friend.
Cheers

Later Edit: Reminds me of Scott Walker! Doesn't get any better than that in my opinion.

Excellent!
a nicely laid back and confident performance Steve.

Production is top notch but I'd expect nothing less from Bryn.

All in all a super collab

urban romantic
your vocals remind me of bowie or peter murphy sure but they go beyond those two into more intimate and pretty territory. More like David Gray than David Bowie. Or Bono. Really, really nice song. Bud posted some "airplane music" a while back and this would fit into that genre.
