The Battle of Shiloh, was a major battle in the Western Theater of the American Civil War, fought on April 6 and April 7, 1862, in southwestern Tennessee. Confederate forces under Generals Albert Sidney Johnston and P.G.T. Beauregard launched a surprise attack against the Union Army of Maj. Gen. Ulysses S. Grant. The Confederates achieved some initial success on the first day but were ultimately defeated on the second day.

I love
a song with some history behind it. The horns sound so desperate against the tense violins an excellent composition. I can see the men creeping up on Ulysses. The build up towards the end is subtle enough to turn the tide in the battle. Excellent

Thanks Tim,
Don't always do it myself but I like a story or in this case some HIStory behind a song.
Best,
Charlie

I like the way
the music conveys the tension of the story - I agree with Tim about the slow relentless build up too. Certainly held my attention, enjoyed.
Cheers

I'm amazed I can hold someone's attention for 6 seconds let alone 6 minutes.

Battle music
Is fun to do and you have done a nice job here. I hear the march... the foreboding... the ebbing pride and the pangs of regret. I might have pulled back the repeated notes in the mix... or perhaps had them build... but this certainly well thought out and nicely executed. Good work...

You have a fighting chance
if you can find the right balance.
Hey maybe I'm taking this war thing too far.
Thanks Bob.

Here's an odd coincidence: At about the same time this music was being composed or at least when the video was being made, a friend of mine in North Carolina wrote a piece called Pickett's Charge, and he later made a video for his music. Although I'm quite certain that he has never heard your music nor seen the video, both are "Ken Burns" slide shows of Civil War pictures.

Shortly before that, I made a slide-show video of battle scenes for my 2008 march, The Seige of Veracruz, and I had never seen your video before today.

So it seems that three guys in three different parts of the nation were all, at about the same time, occupied making slide shows for their original battle music! (True, my music depicts the 1846-48 War with Mexico, but the idea is the same.)

How do you explain this coincidence? Was the moon in Ares?

It's
great when you can marry music and a great subject into a video.
By the way any thoughts on the music or video?
