Description
I started this a very long time ago, and finally just decided to finish it. I really don't know what to make of it.

This is what happens when I compose something when I have no end in sight. :)

(Used a Steinway piano as the instrument) - Didn't physically play it; all midi.

Yet again, I disappear a few months from this site. I wish I had the time to stick around. Like always, I'll be roaming over the next few weeks, listening to all the great stuff I missed.

BEAUTIFUL piano playing! i like the bpm changes in there - the slowdown and later speed up. you've clearly got a mastery of the keyboard - COOL!

Re: magnatone
Thank you! That's quite a compliment, coming from you. I don't think I really do have a mastery of the keyboard, but I'm working on it. I have to say, I didn't physically play this, but I'm learning the piano so maybe someday, I'll be able to.

I was just listening to your piano songs, and I'm continually impressed. A level of talent I aspire to :)

a beautiful composition. had i not read your response to karen, i would have never guessed you didn't play this. it has a very organic feel to it - so great job on that! i, too, liked the ritardando in the middle. i think this is a great start - i could definitely hear it with some strings, if you felt like developing it further. great tune...thanks for sharing this!

Re: Kassia
Thanks! I guess I have Logic Pro to thank for that organic feel :). I actually expected to have to change the velocity on certain notes, but with the Steinway it didn't do much. Perhaps the fact this melody started on the piano shows through somewhat.

Funny you mention strings. When I was listening to the last portion, I found myself hearing strings. I might come back this one someday. It deserves a little more care and polish than I have given it.

Re: Feter
Yes the title is quite misleading isn't it? :)

Maybe going nowhere in particular isn't a bad thing. I suppose it wasn't when I was making this song. So glad you enjoyed it!

Re: DeathArrow
Honestly, I'm shocked at the response to this. Glad you enjoyed it!

Again, can't take credit for actually playing this, and I don't even feel comfortable saying I can 'handle' the instrument, but if I can make it seem like I can, well, I guess I'm on the right track :)

Wow, so glad you, and others have enjoyed this. Thanks for the comments!

From contemplation to purpose...
Colorful, at times pleasantly meandering, reflective and contemplative. The changes in timing mirror the ebb and flow of thought, ending with purpose and a sense of resolve. It's almost like this piece reflects consideration or pondering of some sort, concluding with determination to take the next step. I really enjoyed this!

The composition itself...
...is very interesting. Others have made significant comments (above). The only real issue I have to mention is the unrelenting volume. There are virtually (!) no dynamics. I feel a little beaten up by the time I get to the end... It is impressive, though, that you (I guess) keyed in all of the midi info. I have no idea how one would do that, exactly. Very interesting way to make music.
Peace.
Paul

Re: Paul
Thanks, that's actually very helpful for me know! Sadly, I'm not skilled enough to play such a piece so I did key in all the midi info. However, I didn't play around with dynamics enough. I think I will definitely try to though, and it might require me to play bits on piano, and transcribe that to midi; a very interesting, and tedious way of making music though, like you said.

to be honest
I think of Japanese films when I hear this song. I think of stuff like Spirited Away or Mother at 14 when I hear this. Don't know why that is, but I do. Anyway, fabulous stuff. Really like it!

Keep it up!
