Chorus from Handel's Messiah: "And The Glory Of The Lord"

 Genre: Baroque

This the result of a few months of work last year.

Psycle (sequencing)
Zerious Vocoder
Maxx Claster's Toxic III (for the instrumental parts)
Audacity (vox recording & editing and all other editing/mixing)

This began as just a vocoder test, but when I heard how good it was turning out, I just kept going with it - improving and refining the technique (which is why the voices become somewhat more intelligible as the piece goes on.) This also explains why the instrumental intro is missing: I started with the first alto choir line. Every bit of this was performed by me (yes, even the sopranos) because with a vocoder, you don't have to sing at all. You just 'speak in rhythm,' and the vocoder superimposes your vocal formant onto the (musical) synthesized sound.

Very well done. The vocoder tracks are excellent in my opinion. Very reminiscent of the old switched on Bach pieces from Wendy Carlos. Thanks for sharing this one!

really generic music gets made with vocoder (I'm talking to you, T-Pain), but this is fantastic. Kudos! I can't imagine having the attention span to work on something for months. Kudus on your work ethic, too!

Thanks Lennon714!
I have a full-time job - that's why it took six months to finish. There were a few times when I felt a little burnt out on it, but I'm glad I stuck to it and finished.

your choir of one sure sound joyful. Even though it was hard work, you had fun. Neat experiment. Thanks.
