Wrote this song when my kid was little (about 18 yrs ago), she asked me some questions about a t.v. show that I was watching and It really got me thinking if kids really know the difference between real life and t.v.

It's Only Make Believe

When I turn on the t.v.,
I'm shocked by what I see.
I look at my child of three,
and wonder what she sees.

Does she know,
that it's only make believe.
does she know,
when she's watching t.v.

When I see someone dying
on the screen.
I wonder how many
how many children are watching.

Do they know,
that's it only make believe.
do they know,
when they're watching t.v.

Picked up the paper,
went to bed.
Was shocked by what,
the headline read.
Two kids dead, one was three,
kid said he was playin, playin t.v.

They try to tell us
that kids aren't affected by TV and Video games they watch or play. To them I say Bulls--t. We are what we eat, whether it be food or information. And the information coming from movies, TV, and Video games is not healthy for the mind. If Burger King et al; are junk food for the body, then Video games, TV, and movies are junk food for the mind. Or at least a large portion of them.

Very thought provoking song Kelly, on which you did an excellent job lyrically and musically. Kudos for courage and effort my friend.

Tight production
Sounding good, Kelly. Those harmony vocals are working for you. Guitars are punchy and very clear in the mix. Well done. One minor suggestion: the drum fills are all the same -- maybe add some variety to make it sound more like a live drummer. Other than that, great.

It may not be intentional, but I love that 80's feel.
It's a very true testament to what society accepts as the norm!
Great twist at the end.
