I lost my Dad to Cancer on St. Patricks Day in 2005. I was feeling pretty low and wanted to express the feeling as music. I didn't rehearse this or have any idea what was going to come out.

I am not that great of a guitar player but what came out was this song and it was done on the first take. I did a second track with a backward tape effect to give it the feel that we are left with. I have never tried to play it again but when I miss him I play this song. I played it for a girl I had just met that told me she had lost her Mother to cancer as well and she wept when she heard it. I had kept her email address which she gave me and sent her a copy a few months ago. She emailed me back a thank you and told me that she cried again but in a good way.

I decided to share this song with the MacJams Community and hope some of you enjoy it. Feel free to share it with others .

Thanks Feter
Thanks a lot for listening to it and your kind words...

I was using my Line 6 Electric Guitar and my Pod XT Live. To be honest I don't remember the exact setting but I am sure it was the Strat setting or Spank as Line 6 calls it.. Just found the right tone I wanted with the Pod XT Live, going for a sad tone with enough reverb to make it feel like I was searching for my Dad in the dark fog I was feeling.

A beautiful tribute
My sympathies. WG. This is an absolutely gorgeous piece of guitar music, very expressive, and yes, mournful. Excellent photo of the two of you. I'm sure your father would be touched by this beauty.

Hi magnatone
Thanks for listening to it. I hope it is the last song I ever upload here that still brings me pain listening to but wanted to put it out in the world. I some times wish it was shorter so it would be over sooner lol but this is one song I felt that I couldn't edit. One take and what came out was real so I had to leave it alone aside from adding the backward tape effect track to give it a haunting feeling.

Thanks again for listening to it...

Grant, Hi!
Met you through your comments. Your music speaks of your profound loss. One of the best things about believing that the soul is immortal is the assurance that if that is true, then we all will be with those we loved most, at once and forever. Very compelling. Thank you.
