Pestkop (The Bully)

I posted this song a few days ago, and labeled it "Children's music". It seems to me that this label does not appeal to many MacJammers, as it was played only a few times. Maybe the new label can raise more attention... By the way, it really is ROCK FOR (not too young) CHILDREN
A song about bullying, in my own beautiful langue: dutch. Though aimed at children (I also wrote and/or arranged music for children's musicals and other children's music projects) I did not want do make any musical compromises. In fact I rarely do when making music for children. And a subject like bullying just askes for music that is a bit spiced up. I wrote this one several years ago but it didn't find its way into a project yet. Mainly because I am not 100% satisfied with my lyrics, especially in the second part of the bridge. Please listen carefully ;-)

Thanks to Jim Award who did the drum part.

And thanks to Alicia Hood who made a webquest about bullying, from which I "borrowed" the artwork.

Great tune.
There is a TV show in the US about a rock band in NY called ZO2 (http://www.zo2.com/). They do day gigs of playing rock for children. I don't know dutch, but this songs reminds me of the show just a bit.

Great tune. Well done.

I just checked out ZO2, they seem sympathetic to me and I like their songs. I wrote music and lyrics for several children's projects in my home town. In our country we have a tradition of school music projects, they are called 'school musicals' but usually there's a lot more dialogue in these plays than in the well-known musicals like Cats. Which is because children won't be able to sing for such a long time - and because every child in class should get a role in the play, regardless of their musical abilities.

There's a kind of school musical industry over here, producing several new titles every school year. I tried but it turned out quite difficult to get into this scene, it's a kind of 'old boys network' if you know what I mean. So my projects were performed at some local schools but never got beyond that point.

I really like to try different styles of music in these projects. In fact I don't think this song would work very well when sung by children, they tend to start shouting when the music is rocking like this. I hope it could find its way into some educational project or show about bulling some day, sung by adults.
