Description
Cast Iron Chef was sort of a commissioned work. I'm a sometime member of the S.C.A. - those crazy medieval re-creationists. One of my very good friends is a very good campfire cook, and I mooch off his skillet quite often in exchange for a song or two. Well, he had this "cast iron chef" contest one year, and he challenged me to come up with a theme song in exchange for food. This is a little sloppy (take one), but intentionally so, to give it a "jamming around the campfire" feel inspired by the Clancy Brothers, et al. Hope it makes you smile a bit!

Lyrics
David McCord Cast Iron Chef
They are choppin’ and a-grindin’ and a-slicin’ at the block,
Mixin’ up the sauces and a-spicin’ up the stock.
Come share with us my friends
This marvelous repast -
The best cuisine you’ll ever know
From the kitchen of the cast… iron chef.
Stokin’ and a-pokin’ coals to get the oven hot,
Fryin’ in the skillet and a-boilin’ in the pot.
The good food never ends
But sure it’s going fast -
The culinary artistry
From the skillet of the cast… iron chef.
It truly is a wonder how a smidge, a pinch, and measure,
Can really make a difference when they’re cookin’ up a treasure.
Oh the feast has just begun
And we’re going to have a blast.
Yes it’s gastronomic glory
From the caldrons of the cast iron chef.
You know that heaven’s comin’ when they start a-marinatin’.
Just lookin’ at the menu has us all a-salivatin’.
Hurry up and get in line!
You don’t want to be the last
When they start to serve it up
from the ladle of the cast… iron chef.
Grab a bowl and grab a dagger - grab a trencher and a cup,
And come along politely as we gather now to sup.
Don’t be shy, just have a seat –
The pots are being passed.
You know you’re gonna want some
From the fires of the cast… iron chef.
They are choppin’ and a-grindin’ and a-slicin’ at the block,
Mixin’ up the sauces and a-spicin’ up the stock.

Dadai.2
in keeping with the Clancy Bros. influence. The penny whistle is choice... clear and bright as the sun. Just a perfect Irish folk song. Great vocals, fun lyrics, and good time had by all...
