Description
This is a revision of an earlier submission. Cleaned up some harmony remixed and a few other minor changes - hopefully for the better.
Thank you my fellow music lovers for commented on the earlier version.

In searching for the title to this I came upon "The Silk Purse" Thought it was pretty clever with hints of the Far East - a sow's ear - then I discovered that my gem had already been used by Linda Ronstadt for one of her albums. Damn got to keep looking but after pausing for a moment I didn't think Linda would really mind sharing her title or at least part of it with me and I always did like her and heck maybe one day she might even consider adding a vocal line to this.
Time for some music.

Good work!
Another of your very effective paintings of scenes through music! Well done! You have some counterpoint happening here, which works well... Only thing I'd suggest is to consider changing your ostinatti (repeated figures, which in this piece are mostly in an inner voice) a little more than you do… Not sure if that would add much, it's just something I would try.

There is no need to change your title if you don't want to; titles to songs/compositions are not copyrighted.

Good work here, Charles!

Thanks Clark,
Always great to have you give my work a listen and grateful for thoughts on improving it. As you mentioned I did vary the ostinatti which for the most part is as you describe an inner voice but I could always dig a little deeper and find more patterns.
All the best,
Charlie

I commented on this
last night, but my comment seems to have disappeared. Anyway here goes again. I didn't hear the earlier version, but I do like the way this has a halting,'moving forward' feel to it and the way you've worked the strings so comfortably alongside the horns. This descriptive of when the army is just amassing, ready to march forward. Again, really nice work Charles, regards M

Actually
you did leave a comment on the preceding version of the Maurice but it's so nice of you to take the time to leave another comment on this version. I'm very happy you liked it my friend.

Majestic and evocative
Charlie, this is wonderfully crafted, like a monumental aural painting. My only crit is that it's too short: I got pictures of absolute masses of people, and animals, and carts, and kids -- it would have taken days for all of them to pass.
Nice work, and thanks for the d/l.
