Description
My first pop song. And inspired by pop diva, Ashlee Simpson! Actually I was sick of Jessica's sister long before the SNL debacle. But that was the ic ing on the cake. Its amazing how the industry makes stars these days. Anyways, this is my tribute to all things Ashlee Simpson.

My wife is on the keys, and I am on the bass, guitar, Fitch Cello, and vox. The drums are loops. Enjoy.

(*I was going to redo the vocals--these are a first take--but came down with a nasty flu. Please go easy on me!)

Lyrics
You Suck

well thats not really fair

you obviously sang in tune once

at the studio with the tape going

You Fake

well thats not exactly true

you were actually dancing

and the hoe down was symbolic of you

you were never meant to sing in front of the world

Chorus

Ashley Simpson

Are a product of the times

a commercial selling candy

and a billboard full of high-paid writer’s rhymes

Ashley Simpson

are a sister of a real star

and they wanted to see how far

they can take you, they could make you

You Goofed

Well thats not what you reported

it was the band that wrongly started

I guess they’re not as good musicians as you

You Cracked

Or at least you think you would have

cuz that acid reflux kills ya

and then singing would have caused us to Puke

You were never meant to sing in front of the world

Ashley Simpson

Are a product of the times

a commercial selling candy

and a billboard full of high-paid writer’s rhymes

Ashley Simpson

are a sister of a real star

and they wanted to see how far

they can take you, they could make you

I Jimmy Mitchell

Feel a little sorry for ya

Cuz once in a while, my tummy hurts too

and being a big star,

means the heartburn made you dismal

well its called Pepto Bismal

ya drink some for your sore tum but

You Ashley Simpson got

a bigger problem than the

acid burning Its called a

total lack of star power

You Ashley Simpson

Are a product of the times

a commercial selling candy

and a billboard full of high-paid writer’s rhymes

Ashley Simpson

are a sister of a real star

and they wanted to see how far

they can take you, they could make you

they could make you, they could take you, they could break you...

I love this.

a modern day classic!
I saw her "performance" when it happened...I was
just, like "stop and play another freaking song for
god's sake...just start again...you are a live singer
and band...right?" Anyway, this was hilarious. I like
how you choose to use the word "are" instead of
is...like Ashley Simpson is a word to describe a
"type"...anyway that's what I got out of it. Your
choice of generic chord changes appropriately reflect
so many copycat songs today...and the do-be-bop-
be-do-be scatting was just the icing on the cake...

a modern day classic!
I was sooooo tempted to do a hoe-down type two-step thing in the
middle.

'..the hoe-down was symbolic of you..'
ouch!! really great job poomeister-meisterpoo! vocals
aren't bad at all-just wish they were a little LOUDER. the
words 'lyrical genius' are coming to mind for some reason.
i liked the 'boo biddy bops' at the end there :D

haha
It's funny cause its true! Just cause she's Jessica's sister...
soon it wouldn't suprise me if they started trying to make
their cousins stars. It's hilarious. That 'hit' song 'she'
wrote, "Pieces of Me" was actually written mostly by
someone else... it should be called "Pieces of my Manager"
or something..

Anyway... the song is funny.. I'm glad you made it, I hope
it somehow finds its way to Ashley's ears.

it's ashlee
cos like, she can spell just as well as she sings, right? i
mean, ashLEE. sounds just like it's written right? well that
makes sense. geez, if we write it like it's normally written,
her fans will be like, ash-lay? oh no. that sounds too
ghetto. dear god if it was ashLEIGH.... ash.. ligh? like
thigh?

ashlee... lindsay...hilary...britney... geez i see a trend
here....

AWESOME - who's your next target? ooh ooh, can i pick!?

funny!
I don't know nuthin bout the "events" you refer to....don't
have a TV.....I live in a rarified world of Phantom and my
Airstream trailer, and creating my own music.

Obviously I don't get out much and am pretty un-hip, at
that.

But this is STILL funny, the lyrics speak an unfortunate
truth about today's glam society, literally making
something (or the ILLUSION of something) from nothing.

Love the song art. I sure hope you're over the flu by now.
Ya look kinda peaked.

A voice to lip sync to
Aside from the clever lyrics, I really like your voice. Such a
straightforward, warm, honest voice. You should sing
more often! The Simpson are wonderful stereotypes and
your treating them like icons was really well done irony.
Great fun and nicely done.

Poetry
Gawd, I can't stand that girl, either. Witty lyrics and oh, so
very appropriate.

Fear not, though. I'm pretty sure she won't be around too
much longer... then again, Avril's still busting ear drums,
isn't she...

Ain't Happening
To use one's musical skills to trash a little girl fits into a rating that MacJams doesn't present so I'll skip it.

Ain't Happening
From my perspective, that's a little girl. In any case, I think it's a waste of your musical skill to do something like this. You're better than that.

Ain't Happening
Don't worry--I find many different outlets for my talents (thanks by the
way).

My inspiration was wanting to write a song about something I felt very
strongly about. Being in the music business (okay, I worked at a CD
store for 7 years) I grew sick of certain people getting fast-tracked into
stardom while other, hard-working, infinitely more talented artists
worked
their asses off to break even. So, needless to say, seeing Ashlee's over-
exposure on tv and subsequent top'o'the charts single, caused a
passionate reaction in me.

I caught 10 minutes of her show. In it she was getting ready for her first
live performance. She was doing a sound check with her new band. At
this time her single was out, her album was recorded and her video was
done as well. AND SHE HAD NOT YET PERFORMED IN FRONT OF PEOPLE.
EVER.

Something is very wrong there.

This rocked!
Much better than any of her stuff, and the lyrics are
gospel! I especially liked the scatting at the end -- and
like the line "You were never meant to sing in front of the
world" right before the chorus... nice. props to your wife,
as well.

This rocked!
I'll pass those props along to my wife. Thanks for the compliments...

Yeah, that "You were never meant to..." line just came to me and I
thought, "hey, that's good." Good to know there are kindred spirits.

I guess Ashlee can dance the ballet. Maybe she should stick to that.

Heh
This is great. Alanfraser should pull his head out of his ar$e if he thinks that fake musicians aren't a legitimate target for real musicians' talents. Besides - it's not a vitriolic attack on her, more the system that allows people like her to get onto TV and into the charts.
Great job pooey. I enjoyed this.

funny as hell
The only things I wopuld change would be the line
"are the sister of a real star" to "sister of another fake star"
because Jessica is as hokey and lame as bad candy. They are both so useless. Maybe a few funny sound effects like puke sound when you say puke. Some cash registers ringing during "commerical selling..

someone, she is it. Bravo. Maybe redo the vocals, hon.
