Description
I don't often put up revisions but there where problems with the timing and mix of this that bothered me so here for anyone that's interested is what I hope is a better version of "The Orientalist" A work that evokes films and an era long gone.
For any of you coming back for seconds thanks and that goes to you first timer's too.
Cheers,
Charlie

Orientalist - take 2
I somehow missed the original version of this (sorry about that!), so I don't have it in my head to compare this to. This is BEAUTIFUL Charlie - it has a very strong cinematic feel, beautifully conceived and orchestrated. Your orchestration is so clear and lush, with wonderful ups and downs in the action. I really like the pacing of this also - GREAT work, and thank you!

I'm
very happy you liked it Karen. I tried to mix up the orchestration a bit glad it worked for you. And don't worry about missing it the first time.

There is so much going on here at MJ's who except for our friend Feter can keep track of it all.
Cheers,
Charlie

Charles
This definitely could be an ambient track for a featured film. Your use of the regional instruments takes the listener on a ride to Arabia past. I did not hear the first version, but judging by this version there is no reason.
Very well composed, with much time put into the project!!!

:: Brilliant ::

Crystal Clear and Up Front
The sound stage really comes into sharp focus here - probably one of your clearest mixes I can recall. I feel the heat, the sway of the camels, see the shimmering air over the hot sand. Most evocative. Your orchestration is gorgeous here Charlie, with the legato strings carrying us along through this hostile landscape of indescribable beauty. The accel. toward the end adds tension and the trill at the finale makes me wonder 'what did we just find?'

Guess I'll have to wait for the next serial to find out...

Terrific piece Charlie. Thanks for posting!

Take care,
Doug

I'm
really glad you enjoyed this Doug. I've been working on it for a while. Still am and like with your wonderful, Guillô, Pran ton Tamborin, always trying to master all the complexities of mixing well. I still feel like a babe in the woods when I listen to yours. For you to find good things here is encouraging.

Love your descriptions they always capture so well what I'm trying to say with my music.

Thanks Doug and have a great holiday my friend.

I didn't notice
any problems with the first version but I understand how some things really can niggle when they don't sound quite right to yourself.
Thanks for the second listen - still sounds fresh and masterful.
Cheers
