A Heart is Gold. 35 Mile Walk

A heart is gold
Love is so
And I'm going down past the break
The lonely kiss
Onto your hand
If that was all it takes

And the man goes mad
Seeing what he had
Flowing down into the lake
And his love is gone
Life is wrong
And what more can they take.

The way you're faced in this town
The way you faced down

And I see you walking wild and free
Down the spinning night
The trapped bird cry through light
And I am standing against the sky
But to hold your hand
And you trace your name through
Everything I am
And the starry sky to me belies
The lonesome lane with you
And I'm gone away and I'm so afraid
Of what I could do.

The lake that was made of gold
Is a thousand years old
The ring that I held for you
Fell from my hand I'm told

A thousand miles far from here
The words I say and take
The The light out of the trees and stars
That I walk beneath
Maybe some day I'll see a star so new
And I'll throw away what now I say

Walk 500 miles?
No wait, that's from Scotland.

The rough voice and out of tune piano work well for this song. Pity that the bass is sometimes off time.

if van morrison and tom waits had a love child...
man i love that acoustic chugging along underneath the bass, gives it a strolling character, which fits the concept hand in glove. great whistling, terrific lyrics, great harmonica, and as always vocals that grab you by the collar and shake you like a dog toy. will be a treat on the christmas week playlist. thanks!

OOh, that deep,
resonant voice contrasts with the whistling and harmonica. Remarkable poetry: "And you trace your name through Everything I am." Thanks.
