Swingin' Door 2009

Description
This is my latest remix of one of my favorite Fritters songs. I'd had this song up here along with a lot of the other songs on our Fritters CDs but took them down a while back for reasons I won't go into here. I thought I'd upload this again with a little different mix, this time done in Logic. Most everything is the same as the original mix except the drums which are a newly arranged EZ Drummer Nashville Kit, a different ambient electrobeat, and my backing vocals which I re-recorded. I play acoustic and electric guitar and bass and a pad from my Kurzweil KME61. The bells are samples from my collection of bells that I uploaded to the Found Sounds page if anyone wants to use them. But the real star of this is Kelli and her wonderful lyrics and singing. It's really a joy to be able to collaborate with her and it'll be 5 years ago now that we found each other on MacJams, and though our production has slowed down considerably, we are still a band, having played a gig together and released 2 CDs together. And we do have a 3rd in the works, pretty far along now, and though we had to postpone our 2009 release of it due to other commitments making it difficult to finish recording. So in the meanwhile I'm planning on releasing a remixed version of a selection of the songs on the first 2 CDs.
Thanks,
Jim Bouchard

Fritters are back - yay!
Ooh--I love the Kelli & Jim show. I'm working but had to get by ASAP to hear this. I'm so glad you're bringing some back. The mix is great... love that crisp snare. The "talkin' about" harmonies just open the mind (not just the Sesame.)

Jim and Kelli
Love the Fritters - great, great vocals Kelli, and Jim you know you are my production guru. In a fair and reasonable world, you two would be making good money out of these beautiful, beautifully produced songs. Maybe 2010 :)
Best wishes for the New Year to you both.

Swingin' Door
Lovely, dreamy and tasty in a Roseanne Cash meets Joni Mitchell kinda way. So much to dig here--great guitar parts, chimes and synth washes, and the gorgeous singing. Four stars.

I don't remember...
...the previous version, but this is really well done. For starters, it's a really strong song, which is one of the cool things about The Fritters: you two start from good songs. After you have good songs, you then sing and play them well. After THAT, there's a particular Bouchardian take on production that is something of a signature, but I don't think that would matter as much if all the quality at the beginning wasn't there.

You ARE a walking advertisement for EZ Drummer and the Nashville kit, Jim....
