Domenico's Adventure

Description
My final project for my Music Theory class was to compose 16 bars of a piano piece using an Alberti bass (there were other requirements like 'use 2 Neopolitan chords' and '2 augmented 6th's' etc..). I wrote it, and decided to orchestrate it, at a friends suggestion.

This is definitely a style I haven't tried before, but I had a blast making it! Amazing how the piece transformed, from a solo piano piece, to a full blown orchestral piece. I hope it's enjoyed. I'd love to hear what people think.

The rabbit in the picture can be Domenico, though I was originally referring to someone else. I can see this as being "rabbit's music" though. :)

(Here's the original solo piano, if you're curious: http://www.box.net/shared/onsqavzspv )

You Get An A+
When I went to college we just wrote our scores on paper and hoped the school's orchestra would limp their way through it once. What a great age we live in where serious composers like yourself get to hear your piece fully realized before bringing it to the actual orchestra.

Great piece and tremendous arrangement.

Re: alackbass
Why thank you! I was just thinking about that today. The ability for me to make something like this is really a dream come true. What a great age indeed. My next dream is for something of mine to be played by a real orchestra. I'm sure it will happen someday one way or another, but I can enjoy the benefits of technology until then I guess. :)

I'm glad you liked the piece, and arrangement!

Re: Sigmund
I'm glad you enjoyed it, and that you liked the orchestration! I might be doing a few tweaks of it soon. I see some areas for improvement, and, unlike my pieces in the past, I'll actually pursue them with this one. :P Thanks for listening!

Re: IdleBel10
Thanks! In regards to the constraints, I guess what I didn't mention, was that I ended up having to compose the original piano solo in around 8 hours non-stop (totally forgot to eat). It was an interesting, but fun experience; though one that I wouldn't much like to repeat. I'm very happy that this fully orchestrated version came out of it! And I'm glad you find it inspiring. :)

Re: mvh
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it. It is a rather insanely uptempo piece. :P I don't know if I received an A on this but... hope so. :) Certainly, whatever it was, I learned a lot from it. Orchestrating it made the assignment even more meaningful for me.
