Description
Recently, my music has been getting better technically and compositionally. I recently picked up a pair of Mission Cabiet Speakers (They are England made high-end cabinet speakers, typically worth $400-500 used) for $30 at a thrift store. The improved range has allowed me to mix and master much better. This song is rough and could be mixed better, but it needs to sit on the counter for a bit while I think through possible changes and get things in order for the rest of my life. The mixing isn't quite right, but I think you'll still like it :D

I don't know where the name came from. Originally, I was going to call it "The Pokemon are Gone" (You'll see why when you hear the chorus, trust me) but I thought that sounded, quite frankly, a little bit stupid. Then I saw the picture in the artwork and remembered that you can set a home sound amplifier to optional aternative EQ settings. So I guess that's where the name comes from. The song comes from the heart.

Ya done great
I especially liked that little dance break--very creative and hard to not to get the feet tapping on this. Keep up the good work!

Thanks
for liking this track. Many of the elements in this track sat for months before a final track resulted.

Well
Mix is almost there. The top end sounds fine, however I'd like more bass on that bass drum and that lovely lower synth sound. Also it all exists in the same space to my ears and probably could do with a little more depth. But like I say that's just my ambient ears listening. Great creativity here. Some excellent sounds. Very well put together. Keep it up Karl!

Thanks for the advice
Yea I suppose it could be bassed up a bit. I agree, it all exists together far too much, but I haven't found a way to mix it into separate areas of the spectrum without losing pieces of it that I really like.

Thanks for the advice.

I had felt that this had more of an aggressive melody to it! But, very glad that you were uplifted by it.

I will definitely take Andrew's advice. Glad you liked this. I'd thought that this might have a narrow crowd of enjoyment. Guess not!

Hey
thanks man! Glad you think it rules. I think it rules too. It could be mixed better. And, as to your comments on it being melodic, I think the too to getting people to appreciate this genre is by integrating melodic elements into it, because it makes a bridge. to be honest, a lot of brilliant techno, dance, and house has been created by people whose background is more DJ and technical and percussive, and less melodic. For instance, the kid who grows up playing the piano or violin typically doesn't go into this genre. However, whenever a kid does, you get this awesome melodically backed sound that is unique from other forms of electronic music. (eg trance music, many producers have classical backgrounds. Some, like Daniel Kandi, don't but are equally amazing.)

glad to see you're still the same old you in these parts...except for the track, which ain't the same old you (in a very good way)! I like how you've been getting more experimental and edgy of late...you're definitely taking it to another level! already made my constructive suggestion elsewhere, so will just leave it at that...man, I'd love to hear those speakers - unbelievable find! And hey, still waiting with baited breath for your feedback on my latest...enjoy the summer Matt!

PS: I have an old DX7 - Darn thing wont power up anymore. :( It's always nice to hear one in a mix now and then.

Hmm...
Sorry to let you down, I've been using my DX7 primarily as a MIDI controller. I often just jam on it and make melodies with its sounds, but rarely do I actually use it in a produced mix. Haha sorry lol. The DX7 has some LEGENDARY sounds though. The Koto and E-Piano patches in particular are awesome.

Mission
Your mix definitely sounds great. Full, yet transparent, in all the frequency ranges. Nice job.

I like the sounds you're using, but to me the amount of woops and sliding noises is a bit much. Either more variety, or not as often?

Not Sure If You Know It....
....but this sounds great played really LOUD!

Great sound choices for your instruments. Reason, eh? I have an old version on my old G3 Clamshell - loved that synth generator and the red drum set up. Can't afford to buy it again, but you've convinced me it wouldn't be a bad idea.

Thanks for sharing this really excellent colorful and pounding electronic track. I would've liked it better if it were on my iPod.

Haha
Yea this was definitely conceived at high decibels. One thing I don't like about commercial music is that it's very often squeezed into the high and low spectrums of the sound, and it loses definition when played loud. The trick is to get it compressed but not polarized. Still haven't mastered that yet. But yes, it does sound nice loud.

Thanks for liking it!

good one. I was also going to complain about the lack of bass, but then I turned it up loud and it sounds great. Its definitely heavy on the hi-end tho, but it works.

To be honest, this track didn't turn out quite as well as I had hoped, I might take it back to the drawing board, and priority uno is definitely to get those highs under control. Glad you liked it though!
