Description
I could write a laundry list of inexplicable things that happened with this song that I have no idea how to fix right now, so, as per usual, it is a work-in-progress. The plodding low piano notes on the chord changes--no idea why those came out that way. Boom! Boom! Boom! Like I always say, I'm just gonna have to re-do the keyboards when I actually HAVE a keyboard. But I go ahead and post stuff anyways, because it could be some time before that happens.

But, on the positive side, something really magical happened when, on a whim, I decided to drag Dance Synth 43 underneath the piano just to "see what happens." I liked the effect so much I immediately went in and split, split, split and rewrote the sequence in the score with the notes I wanted. Love those loops with the green icon next to them, because you can rewrite them to your liking!

Thank you . . . .
. . . so much! I am SO excited for September, when I will have my electric keyboard back from Arizona. I am just aching to play a real keyboard again.

Intuitive
I read your introduction about how you got into computer music. I image you don't have too much of a music education? But I like what comes out (until the abrupt ending, at least): it has a good flow that is not a standard dance beat. The piano and synth and minimal drums make for a somewhat sparse arrangement, but it's not missing anything.

Enjoyed.

You Are Correct :)
Nope, not much of a music education, except piano lessons. You know, college music theory has been the only test I've ever flunked in my life! That stuff is tough. Yeah, the ending is whacked right now--that's going to have to be fixed. It is sparse--I think there are only five tracks on this one, if I remember right. Thanks though, for your input! I really appreciate it.

nice use of the loop and piano sounds quite good! you gotta slow down on your posts, most people will miss most of them because they're coming too fast, and that's a shame - you have some VERY cool stuff here! so glad you found MJ

Good Advice
LOL--yes! I was advised by a very nice fellow MJ-er to slow down! His point (and yours) are well-taken, and I won't be putting anything up for a while now. I am patience-challenged. Anyways, thank you so much for the compliment! I had downloaded "Confluence" and listen to it over and over, so I imagine I will be adding a lot more of your music to my collection.

Welcome and Great Work!
Hello Catalina. This is the first time I've heard your music. You make some really nice vibes. Your story of discovering GB is profoundly entertaining as well. Good to have you onboard with us. I'll look forward to more of your work! :)

Amazing
that you can get this much feel out of composing using only a keyboard. It will be nice when you have a full keyboard controller to really put your years of training to use. Yes this has a nice delicate 80's pop ballad feel.

For sure . . .
. . . . it's going to make a huge difference when I have an instrumental keyboard. Thank you for the compliment! My musical world is probably going to blow up the first time I plug a MIDI cord from my piano to the computer. I just can't wait. :)

A bunch! I'm going to be listening to lots more of your music. I have wanted to learn everything I can about jazz for years now, but jazz is really tough for a classically trained piano player like myself to pick up. (At least it is for me.)

Thanks so much egobandit! Yes, the ending is a mess right now. It's called, "It's two in the morning and I'm tired and want to go to bed and don't feel like fixing this ending right now but am too impatient to not post it right away anyhow!!!" Touching up the ending is definitely on my to-do list. Thanks for the input! :)

Haha!
You are so sweet for giving it a "10"--thanks so much! I really don't mind if people give me lousy ratings right now--I mean, I am new at this and I expect some of my stuff is going to suck. I remember reading an interview with Richard Marx, like, 20 years ago, when he was big, and he said his first 50 or so songs were "hideous." But when you have passion and joy in doing this, whether or not it is good doesn't really matter. It's the love of the process of growing and learning that is important. That being said, I really get a kick out of your cyber-slap-in-the-face! Thank you for the compliment on the chord sequence. Best! :)

This
piece flows along nicely Cort. I especially like that you've gone in an tinkered with the loops. I think that really helps you understand what you're doing and makes you a better musician.
Cheers,

two
of my favourite things to do with GB, create odd effects and mess with the green loops!!

Interesting stuff, I like how the synth gives it a really 80's film score feeling!

You know, you're the second person to liken this song to the 80s, which I actually really appreciate, because I love a lot of 80s music. (I guess it shows LOL.) Hooray for the green loops! Thanks a bunch. :)

I've tampered in GB for a short time, but it wasn't for me. However, it certainly works for you. This is very pretty & it puts me in a happy mood, yeah I'm diggin' it. The ending is a bit abrupt, but no biggie at all. Good stuff!

Accident leading to greatness.
Admit it. You meant to click on iPhoto and, instead, clicked on that "stupid guitar icon" and that's how it all started. lol

This is really good. My only complaint is the abrupt ending, but I suspect you'll go over this one and blow us all away! Lookin' forward to it!

Stupid Guitar Icon
Yeah, somebody please tell me what I was thinking when I clicked on the stupid guitar icon! Come to think of it, it's right next to iWeb, and I had been really busy writing an iWeb blog, and I do think it was a complete accident that I clicked on GB. Thanks once again bunches! Now, on my way over to check out some of your music . . . .

Hi Cort. Sounds like you have the talent to write a great song. What you need is a real keyboard and some more practice in GB - once you get it down you just might be unstoppable. This is an enjoyable tune to listen to - welcome to the MJ community and best of luck on the bar!

green with loopy envy
the low piano boom creates its own percussive inertia... perhaps it is not such a bad thing after all... sending rippling audio waves behind us dancing on the lake at dusk as we enjoy the electronic skyscape. what a nice beginning you have here. i do hope you get your keyboard, and take some time to finish painting this richly coloured dance piece... because just as i was melting into the music, my headphones suddenly went "perfectly still." sigh.
