I don't want to be the one they back up to the wall
I'm stepping right down; you know my tears make me small
You've gotta make the best of the way these things work out
Maybe you have to deal with it but you don't have to like it

No, you're not my son. Not my responsibility
You're not the only one trying to make ends meet

You're going to come to learn how to stand on your own
When you fall to your knees in this shallow life
Finding it impossible to try and live the lie
Maybe I gave you some advice but I tell you

No, you're not my son. Not my responsibility
You're not the only one trying to make ends meet

What would you say if you had to leave forever
You know my broken soul's not getting any better
Somewhere down the line, trying to pass the time
Maybe I can give you some inspiration

Although you're not my son. Not my responsibility
You're not the only one trying to make ends meet

And when the people come to point their finger
and you're thinking is it really all worthwhile
Well maybe I can help you out but let me leave you with no doubt
Crying all your tears into a deep blue see
Well take a look around cause you can talk to me

Please can you help me, sitting here all on my own
Please can you give me some advice my friend
Pardon me, but you don't understand me
Crazed ideals and screaming souls calling out the sound

No, you're not my son. Not my responsibility
You're not the only one trying to make ends meet

Much better mix Stephen
The vox is just perfect in this mix, and you reigned in the guitars quite nicely. They're still there but not covering any of the vox up. I do like the way you brought the Guitar up for the instrumental bridge. I might suggest, if you decide to do another mix that you increase the energy level of the drums, rhythm guitars, and bass just a little bit during that instrumental bridge. It will give the song more impact right where it needs the energy.

The whole mix works better for me now, but I would still ask your mates to take a listen, just i case my ears aren't telling the truth as people with good ears hear it.

Thank you Ed
I asked a mate to have a listen and he just replied "Smart a*se" which I guess is a compliemnt. But I'm always playing with these mixes (are songs ever truly finished?) and will certainly see what it's loke boosting the guitars, bass and drums in the bridge. I was just aware that the strings seemed to get drowned out during the rest of the song so wanted a bit where they came to the fore.

Thanks. I was always interested to see how far into the Eastern side of things I could get and I like the results. Glad you enjoyed it.

Very fine work!
I liked every bar of this--well crafted song, the arrangement and instrumentation is well chosen and its capped off by a very pleasing and well delivered vocal---I think the only advice I could possibly offer has been covered by Sloparts there to some degree, but as it is, I give it full marks!

Thank you Michael, very much appreciated. I'm glad you liked it.
It'll probably go through a few more remixes as I'm never fully satisfied with my mixes, so will take you up on your advice. Thanks for the hard listen.

I've been playing guitar for over 20 years and still consider myself a learner. I started recording on a tascam 4 track portastudio ten years ago and once I got a Macbook, moved on to Garageband as a means of having more tracks to play with and avoid... [see more]
