Description
This is loud, epic, and as close as I have gotten to making an over-the-top trailer style piece. It's a goal of mine to someday write music for trailers, so I'm practicing and learning now. While it's probably simplistic in its composition I quite enjoyed making it.

I'd love to hear what you think of it, and if you listen I hope you enjoy it.

Re: TheDanseLeviathan
Thanks!! I love them too. :) I used QL's Storm Drum 2's Trailer Toms, doubled with the Middle Earth Ensemble at points to add some low end, along with a pinch of Godzilla Hits for impact.

WOWZA Michael - this is excellent! great dips and swells, had me on the edge of my chair. very easy to imagine this in a film. your orchestration is top notch and your instrument choices really work here. you've got some serious serious talent! thanks!

Re: Magnatone
Thanks Karen! What wonderful compliments! The orchestration here is mostly just from what I've gleaned by listening and studying some scores, so it's great to hear I'm on the right track. This year I'll really be digging into some orchestration literature, and hopefully I'll improve my mixing and mastering too.

Nice
Nice, muscular orchestral style. Yeah, those heavy drums drive it a bit over the top into Hans Zimmer territory, but it's still very nice.:)

Re: Maxruehl
Hans Zimmer is awesome. :D But in the future, I should put more care into the percussion; add some finesse with that muscle. Thanks for listening Andy!

Coming soon to theaters near you!
Ok, this is quite awesome.
I really like your percussion here - both rhytmically and sound quality-wise. Sure that's a lot of muscle - but you gotta have muscle to pull people in.
Only one suggestion - I thought the low end timbre was maybe a bit flat. I mean, I can't hear anything in the lowest registers than the trombones/frenc horns. Maybe some double basses and/or cellos with them down there might fill the spectrum a little bit better.

But yeah - like I said: This is quite awesome.

P.s. Is this all QL sounds?

Re: Einar
To say it's awesome, is one thing. To say it's 'quite' awesome; then I know you're serious. :D I'm very glad you liked it!

Thanks for the point about the low end... You know, it might be that I was trying a different way of mastering, and with the EQ I chose, it might not be as present. I actually had Cellos and Double Basses but I'll consider bringing them up, and fixing the EQ in general.

And yep, this piece is actually all EWQL sounds (apart from that swish effect at 0:22). I'm pretty much broke because of it. :P

Mike,
I think your talent is obvious, not the music. I would expect to see you writing trailers professionally any time you choose. Always a pleasure.

Re: crissew
EWQL sounds are pretty fantastic. They cost a lot, but it was an investment I don't regret. :) Glad you like that staccato thing. I've always wanted to do that :D Thanks!!

Great
man those horns and choir are reminiscent of THE greatest soundtrack ever, Poledouris' score for Conan. Epic, massive and totally on the money. Keep them coming like this!
