I love working with Steve, he is such a great musician and song writer. I've always wanted to redo this song, in particular, because it is one of my personal favorites. When Steve sent me the new music track I was so excited to hear it and couldn't wait to jump on it and do it again. I redid my vocals and the guitar leads and the higher key piano notes and added some sound FX to it at the beginning, middle and end. I told Steve I thought some Cello would sound good in the middle when it slows but when he sent me the solo it was so hot I had to extend the song so I could spotlight it. My ideal for the song was about the fact that once our hearts get going, emotionally, we sometimes drive ourselves into a painful situation that there seems no escape because the heart wants, what the heart wants. Watch the mpeg when you listen, it's kind of cool and I thought fit perfectly. A heart factory pumping hearts out. Hope you like this latest version. I know I am certainly happy with it, more so, than before.

From Steve:

When I first heard P&P for the first time in its raw form, I was blown away by its power and its Floydish feel!
I pulled out the MIDI drum kit and started playing along. I knew this tune was hot, so I laid down some tracks
sent them to Anthony and the project was on again! Like always it is a musical pleasure working with Anthony.
He has a wonderful talent for writing hits. Thanks again A.

Pathetic and Poetic

It’s pathetic and poetic
My heart is the machine
That drives for love
To no end

Sympathy, apathy, what do you get from me
Pain and the passion
There’s no frame for this kind of action

Berate me then hate me
You love me then loath me
It’s all been the same to me
At the end

Take me, don’t break me
Forsake me, don’t rape me
Oh why don’t you just
Let me be

You kick me you bite me we fight me
Maybe we should just try to turn off the machine

The machine drives (repeat)

Why you don’t you let me be
Why won’t you set me free?
If not just out of sympathy

My heart is just the machine
That drives me to the extreme
And there is no end again

The machine drives (repeat)

For some reason the mpeg pic is not moving. Sorry, I thought it was pretty cool. I guess I'll have to find another good representation of the song.

Pathetic and Poetic
Dark like Floyd at their bleakest. The distorted rhythm guitars are right out of The Wall. Love the vocal. Downloaded!

Somehow I missed this
Once in a while, one gets by me! This is a great remix, sounds powerful. Love the multiple overdubs on your voice, lends a lot of power to the chorus. At 4:30 would have liked the song to step up in energy, it kind of takes a step back though with the synth part coming in. One of your best songs, both of your. Great work here!
