Description
I couldn't help myself. I had suggested an NFL Films challenge, but everyone is so busy, so no one really bit. So I just did it anyway. I wanted to post it just before the Saints/Vikings kickoff, but I had some mastering problems. So here it is, midway through the first quarter.

NFL
I can see team running onto the field.
Great instrumentation and mix.
Very dynamic the way it builds to the end.

Oh
Very rousing piece. Building nicely.
This is the best tune by far in the NFL films challenge :)
Seriously, you nailed the inspirational/motivational emotion these pieces require.

Kickoff2010 (NFL Films)
Sorry I didn't bite on your challenge idea Stephen. But here in Tampa we don't get real NFL football. We get the Bucs. And knowing the Bucs took my season ticket money and spent none of it to improve the product on the field I would have found it hard to write a triumphant sounding piece of football music.

Yours is excellent. I can see the steam rising from the players as they move in slow motion at frozen Giant Stadium (is that what they call the new place?).

Andrew,
I share your pain. Years ago the Giants suffered through the lean years. Although Tampa has a unique history. I remember ny brother in law saying some years ago, that if anyone wanted to play pro football, he should just play for Tampa. "They would hire anyone as long as they didn't have to pay them". He said. Thanks for giving the time. I see you are paired up for the Halloween challenge. I am jealous! I expect great things.

Brings me back
to the excitement of the first football game of the season - being a member of the cheerleading squad and leading the Marching Band onto the field! FUN idea! Who won the pool for the first quarter?

I must
have missed your suggestion of the NFL challenge. That would have been fun but I'm wondering what does football music sound like!? Perhaps you have hit it right on! Nicely done!

Mark,
I was suggesting a challenge based around the music style that NFL Films uses in their productions. It is generally viewed as the definitive "football" music. So the style is copied from that. Thanks for the listen.

Nice of you
To help out the NFL, not my favorite brand of football (as a Canadian) I like the CFL better because it's faster and more wide open, having said that there is no question about how great NFL players are...The music was very fitting for the tv opening montage

Shadow,
We used to see a lot more CFL games here (especially during the strike). I like the game even though they are different. Football is football. Thanks for the listen.

I have a confession...
...I hate sports! But I very much enjoyed this exciting score--really, it could fit a variety of scenarios and very well too! Thanks for coming up with this composition Stephen.

Michael,
I guess it never occurred to me that folks don't know the genre all that well. Google Either Sam Spence or Tom Hedden for the music that NFL Films uses in their historic documentaries of the NFL. That's the style that I was trying to reproduce.

Kick off
I do not watch sports on TV at all, but I guess if they would play music like this on the championats I would definitely get more interested. Very nice work here with heroic and determined feel. ENJOYED!

Well, I don't know anything about football, but I did enjoy this little piece. It's full of drama and anticipation, and I think you handle that orchestra really well. Nice going!

Hey,
Thanks for the listen and the comment. I wish I was more web savvy as I wanted to post a you tube video in the description that would give an example of this style so that folks that have never experienced the NFL Films would get it, but I guess it should stand alone.

I'm game!
Seriously - had I noticed an NFL Films challenge discussion, I'd have been all over it. I've always wanted to try that out.

That being said - this sounds really cool. Nice & steady buildup and a menacing - yet kinda graceful - feel to it.

Nice orchestration here, too.

My only quabble are those high-pitched strings at the very end.
They just seemed a little sudden and stuck out a bit too much for my tastes.

But other than that - I'm totally game.

Hey! Thanks for the comment. I guess I could have taken more of a lead, but I am not too savvy on how to institute and run a challenge. I would be up for writing another one though, if you want to organize it.

The battle lines are drawn...
Soon, the fate of the conference would be decided. But first, a commercial... for you: Shop this! SOMEONE out there with a budget is bound to be doing a gridiron documentary and they NEED this. Seriously.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I don't think they'll be lining up with the likes of Spence and Heddin available (although I am cheaper, I am sure).
