Redemption (w/ Ziti)

This is the 7th song I've worked on with Z and quite possibly the most epic one yet.
As most of you have already noticed, Z uploaded his version of this a few days ago - but being a slight control freak I wanted to the give mix a go of my own.
So I tweaked some parts of my own backing track in some places and then cut up and tweaked parts of Z's excellent guitarwork.

So, yeah...

A Tale of Two Mixes
I really like the idea of comparing the two mixes. This mix is more intimate, more like a duet (with real band backing). Not as powerful, as godly. More like a real stage jam. Gotta tip my hat to Ziti's version, maybe becuz it got to my ears first and moved me, but I really enjoyed hearing what you did to make the arrangement more transparent and people by less players I could envision. Thanks for sharing this.

Harness that EinFran octane...
This does feel slightly more restrained and less "balls-to-the-wall" than Fran's version... I cannot possibly pick either one as better or worse, I not only love Fran's adrenaline-driven version, but also love this more "mature" jazzy version, Fran's version struts proudly, and yours stands proudly... both are gorgeous, and they are because of a couple of extremely talented composers/musicians/artists, Bravo times two!

nice mix
you used some I had discarded, and discarded some i used....

the separation and general wholeness of this is superior i think...being able to mix the guitars INTO the music instead of OVER the music like i did, makes the whole thing sound deeper and warmer.

This was an enormously enjoyable piece to work on Einar, and a recording we can be proud of!

you are a joy to work with

Excellent in every way. Really like way that you held Z into the mix and when you released his guitar work it was made contrastingly dramatic. faved and bookmarked, subscribed... checks in the mail

Both of you make excellent music, and combining your styles is always a winnner. I don't know if I prefer either version--they are both excellent. Kudos again to zinarus.

Quite the choice...
This seems cleaner and more polished than Fran's version, and as Fran himself points out, it has some different elements and different points of emphasis... Probably an A&R man would pick this as the more professionally rounded track... It's almost as much different arrangement as different mix...

That being said, I like the fire in Fran's version, and the punch that it has...

I would mention that when I came to this after listens to other MacJams tracks, that this sounds a bit soft... It might benefit from some more level... Maybe a hint of mix compression....
