Song Description

many years ago when i was thinking about how it is crickets sound as they do, and i was just about to change from a wintel back to a mac, and it was becoming autumn, and how koi are in tune with their world, and i was depressed, and ...

Milling Molecules

changing gear

checking parameters
what is the true price of memory?
where are you going now?
will this suffice?
a chilling effect
closing the last of the windows

waiting fish

there they are, over the railing
not colliding, not moving a fin
each insignificant
but as a group they make it clear
they know you have food
the image of patience

chirping crickets

random sine waves?
what is the sound
of one cricket chirping?
of a thousand?
this evening
try synthesizing it

changing seasons

the evenings darkening
earlier than yesterday
only slightly
but cumulatively
a chilling effect
the image of patience

milling molecules

a teardrop is so composed
in its trillions of collisions
each event infinitesimal
countless chains of interaction
each insignificant
yet taken together

it flows

really catchy
riff you've got going on here. I like how it juxtaposes with the way the voice kind of falls dead into space. It creates a piece full of tension. This is too cool.

Cool stuff Bill. I was definitely entertained. Liked it when the bass kicked in towards the end. The sound of the soda made me thirsty.

i kept adding things as it went along. the bass seemed to fit in nicely there.

First I was thrown by the noises (plastic cup) but then my brain told me these were good and raised a smile. Percussion is neat and the bass near the end is top. The repeating line is very memorable indeed and the vocals seem just right.

in retrospect, i might cutout that first clunk of the plastic cup. it's too early and sort of out of context, but i guess it worked anyway... this was an unplanned, rather randomly constructed piece

percussion and bass are modified loops, i layered those in to attempt to build tension

thanks for listening!

Checked the genre -
it had to be "other" - wonderfully "other". I like all the ambient sounds - like a night trip to the kitchen.

actually, it WAS a night trip to the kitchen! i held the recorder as i made a drink, so the mic was always within inches of the pourings and fizzings... it was unusually mild that evening, so the windows were open... so after the kitchen, the sounds from outside drew me

being koi in the stream of consciousness
I enjoyed you streaming thoughts while opening a box of entropy (there is a prize in the bottom) and pouring ginger ale on my brain... the bubbles cleansed my morning, thank you. 0x0

i've been thinking this is random and unplanned, but maybe you're closer to what happened: it was stream of consciousness... i actually laughed when i first heard the fizzing played back

Poetry plus
I like the combination of poetry and backing track, but the backing could be a bit louder for me. Also, at some point the bass comes in, so there is some sort of a build-up, but it's half-hearted. I would have added some more elements.

Btw, I love Koi!

i have troubles getting the balance right on spoken w/ music - sometimes i buried the voice, so perhaps i've overcompensated here? i find that mp3 encoding mangles these kinds of things too, that doesn't help either... *sigh*

guess i was too subtle on the build (the drums build before the bass finally arrives) oh well!
