Description
A sound painting of sorts. May be jazz, may be fusion, not sure. A collage of sound bits and pieces I have recorded over last several months.
Hardware: Tascam DR-7, iPad, KAOSSILATOR, AKAI EWI, Yamaha tenor sax. I assembled several recorded clips of trains (arriving, departing, and so on) in Audacity, using internal editing tools and effects, then imported the bounced track into GarageBand and added several layers of instrument sounds.
iPad apps used: Seline HD, SineAtteck, iElectribe.

So much to listen to in this fantastic saga. Reminds a bit of Steve Reich. I can;t even pretend to understand how you put this together, but I'm curious about the iPad apps. Did you use an iPad for some of this? I love the rhythm of the subway rails leading into the groove. Excellent, Ilya. And maybe most surprising of all, your sax takes a backseat in this particular ride.

Thank you.
Yes, I did use iPad, and quite a lot; the bass riffs throughout the tune and syn flute passages at the beginning are made with Selene HD, the first two beats were made in iElectribe (iPad app from KORG), the microtonal noodlings at the end in SineAttack. Lots of fun...

Creative
You sure used some creative ideas to go with those musical tools! I hear music like this at somafm.com the sonic universe channel. Great stuff!

The opening of bass is some kind of feelings.
As for the interstitial modulation, something has begun to move.

And the train arrived at the next underground station.

Great experiment!
Some of those iPhone/iPad apps are not only intriguing but quite powerful, and you've put them together nicely. For those of us outside NYC, or without subways, thanks for a glimpse of daily life in the "other" down-under.
Cheers.

This sounds like it was a lot of fun to make. I always hoped they would make a cheap version of the Yamaha Tenori-On on the iPad, when they do, I'll buy one. Thanks for posting this.

Thank you! I would certainly spring a buck or ten for a software version of Tenori-On; the hardware one is ridiculously overpriced (KORG's Kaossilator PRO seemingly does more for nearly half the price)...
