The Mindnumb Effect (A Donkey and Coconutshell Mix)

 Genre: Ambient

This is a mix from August 2010 and is an almost 21 minute mix. There are lots of drones and clippeticlops in it and the piece goes along in a seeming endless Ambient mind numbing way. The best way to listen to the whole mix is by starting the player on the computer and then going out for a walk or a coffee and, when you return, the piece should have ended and you'll still feel on top of the world.

For those who like a proper fade-out there are 4 minutes of fading (down to the silence at the end of time).

Lovely bunch of coconuts
Ah, Paul, you are poking fun at yourself. Too modest. Certainly not necessary. Ambient mind-numbing ... mmmm. I don't think so. Numbing is what most pop music does to your brain. Electrical signals effortlessly tracking their familiar pathways. Your music causes a sharpening and focus. A neuronic traffic jam along less-traveled paths. The focus and the required collapse of awareness of peripheral sensory input may be confused with numbing, but it's something quite distinct. This is one of your definitive works, I would say. Far from being a modest post, this is audacious. Silence at the end of time. Bows.

i love your long pieces. I generally start them, and then walk around the house being productive while I listen to them. one of my fave signatures that you have is the rhythmic sounds you like to use. always low key and perfect for the effect you're going for. nice one.

I've come to expect wonderful things from you. You certainly never disappoint. This is really cool, kind of spacey. I'm drinking my coffee as I listen, I figure if it's 21 minutes, I might as well get comfy. Great stuff!

darkness bodes
Light shoots through the endless darkness, a fight to illuminate the vastness, and although there is darkness everywhere, there are also stars everywhere bringing light. Thank you for bringing your light here. This seems to have compressed time from 20 minutes down to 8 :-)
