The Homework Ate My Dog

This is the very first instrumental that I ever wrote. The first part was written in ancient times so long ago I barely remember. The second part was in the last year or so as I tried to make it a little fuller and more complex. Still a simple little piece but one I like to play.

Darn it!
I was just about to say this was strongly reminiscent of Carlos Jobim's playing and then I just caught Tiler's remarks....well, I still do! It is amazing how you can make 6 strings sound so encompassing and contained, as if there were 6 musicians playing one string apiece on this--just marvelous. Thanks for sharing this one Tom--enjoyed it a lot! Michael

This is some fine island

Nice tone!
Hi Tom. Nice tone! Some nice playing as well. Diverting little tune. Ends a bit abruptly though? Thanks for the posting. Warm regards, Peter.

There is something special I think about recordings that are stripped down to their soul. No generated drums or keyboards just a man and his guitar and this has that sound. I agree might could use a outro lick but really enjoyed it, nice fingerpicking!

Sure was
First instrumental, at least first part anyway. Keep in mind that I have only written five or six instrumentals my ENTIRE life and I am 63 now. I never meant to write any of them. They just popped into my head and onto the strings and there they were.

I love to play guitar. I have been writing songs for many years and have a large catalog by this time. Songwriting is easy. Writing great songs is hard! Born in Louisiana and live in Texas. I grew up on Chuck, Jerry Lee, Elvis, Ricky, Little Richard ... [see more]
