Song Description

The auditory cortex exhibits some strange behavior pertaining to the gamma wave frequency. When subjects are exposed to three or four cycles of a 40 hertz click, an abnormal spike appears in the EEG data, which is not present for other stimuli. The spike in neuronal activity correlating to this frequency is not restrained to the tonotopic organization of the auditory cortex. It has been theorized that this is a "resonant frequency" of certain areas of the brain, and appears to affect the visual cortex as well.

Three or four cycles of a 40 hertz click – I have that every morning for breakfast! The clacking is annoying but I guess it's representative of the abnormality of which you speak.

Bold. I like it!
I never know how to comment on ambient tracks unless they make me feel a certain way. What I can say about this though, is that you have a meeting hall with frequencies from all the planets and wavelengths represented here and this makes for an eerie, pleasantly distressing and with the description, an unnervingly calm space. I can almost see the scene of a space crew boarding an abandoned vessel with little hope for a happy ending. And with this soundtrack you wouldn't even need any dialog.

I like the open spaces in this piece. Great idea with the clicks. A truly ambient piece.

Hi Bill.......
Whoa....This track is epic. Especially as you explain why this track was put together and have turned a click track (of sorts) into both a wider and much deeper Ambient soundscape.

Very interesting stuff. Mind music par excellence.

Take care.

I knew I should have stayed in school. Whatever it means, it is a cool track, and you lead us all on some very interesting journeys. Thanks Bill ;-)

Odd percussion
on this "very" ambient piece. Interesting take on strange scientific findings. Not sure if my brain is supposed to be like boiled after listening to this, it does feel a bit like it, but perhaps not more so after listening than before ;-)

Thanks for enlightening our brains, anyway...

Take care,

Scientifically, theoretically and most of all very interesting patterns of sounds coupled with your information you provided. I can almost hear Reinholt collaboration in then future with this one imo.

I like the clacking myself. A cool mix of tension and a meandering wholeness that is at the same time soothing and disconcerting.

Surprised I missed this at the time
this one of my favorite modes of Smokey -interdisciplinary exploration. Love it. It also sounds like an extremely minimalist cover of the song Warm Leatherette.
