A Long Way Home #2

This piece is one I put together yesterday, after a walk around town in the cold and wet because I was fed up. The mix tries to show the utter longing for home and the time required to get back. Moments of elation and joy coupled with low moments. It is probably how most people feel about life in general.

Walking around town I was listening to Ryushio Sakamoto playing the piano. Very soothing.

The soundscape is just under twelve minutes in length.

Immersive ambience at its best
Nice work Paul, I'm on my second listen and this has depth to it like many of your pieces. Great pacing and subtle use sounds. Enjoyed it.

Minds eye:Submerged within the depths of the ocean. Colors of the deep within the search light probing for life and wreckage. A long way down and all alone. Almost claustrophobic in a way.

I agree with Patty that this has an undersea feel to it. Long shafts of light coming from above, refracting with each wave. First swimming this way, then to the right around these rocks. On and on it goes, through dim canyons and swaying plant life.

Maybe you had an especially wet walk that influenced your choice of soundscape! :)

This piece is also interesting because the tones you use here are simpler than many of your other works - not quite minimalist but in that direction. Nice use of the overall sound spectrum and a pacing that invites introspection.

I do get the sense of the play of emotions and how they change and ebb and flow. We are complex beings. Just when there is progress and uplift there is discouragement that follows.

It would seem that this piece is a microcosmic analogy of human life. Then the question is what is this Home we're searching for? Does the search ever end?
