Muss i' den?..mit der Raj Ovid Toe Lager Blaskapelle

Get Flash to see this player.

Description
The newly formed Raj Ovid's Toe Lager Blaskappelle Band tonight performed at the Hofbrauhaus in Munchen to a less than rapt audience..The novice accordeenista and leader of the band was alternatively nervous and nauseaus and not quite on form....but then he never is !The drummer was obviously somebody programmed to drum in a robotic manner and occasionally and whimsically hit the ride, crash and any other cymbal that he felt like. In the early stage of the tune there is obviously a disagreement between the band ,the drummer and the tempo.......As for the clarinetist.....well at least he Knew where his mouth was ..the trombonist kept poking the tuba player with his slide and the Tuba player did clearly not like this as he was later seen stuffing a pretzel and two rollmops down the bell of the trombone later in the evening....oh and now his slide has blown off at the end !!

This was the bands first number ....and the jury is definitely out....probably to lynch them.

Isn't that an old Latin guy from India? You just couldn't leave it alone, could you: here we were calling you all sensitive and bloozy and you had to revert to clowning around. I don't know about the toe lager but you could play at my Hofbrauhaus any time. Loved the slide rolling on the floor ;-)

When I was a kid
in Germany in the 70's we had three LPs which I played constantly "Das grosse Weis'n Fass,Volkstumliche Weis'n and Abteilung Marsch" and now I have an instrument which can play those wonderful tunes. The Ackordeen....great fun.

GI Blues all over! If Elvis would have had this band he would have had a bigger hit on his hands! :) Not so bad, I heard plenty of bands like this in Minnesota where I grew up.
I got a big kick out of this and your description.

The problem is that
all the band members hate each other and mess up each others mastering when we do the mixing......I am going to ban them from behind the glass and make sure that they stay in the performance area...Thanks for indulging in this little bit of madness !

Toe Lager
Pity your lead singer has left the building! Nice recording of a beautiful melody. The accordion is sounding good! Yes, that drummer may have sampled the product of the establishment a little too enthusiastically - his cymbal seems to have got the better of him. Love the ending!

Beer & pretzels
Hahahaha. Love it. It sounds authentic --- a performance by some not-too-bad musicians who haven't rehearsed this one quite enough, and maybe started drinking a bit too early. The drummer is my favorite. Those crashes are priceless. Much enjoyed.

I used
my keyboard for the instruments other than the Accordeen which I played for real....I recorded straight from the headphone socket rather than midi connecting I think it gives a better "feel"to the playing....I may be wrong....thanks for having a listen.....

you said you'd expected Elvis tapping ME on the shoulder Chris...... I think he'll be tapping at your door (or table) anytime now wanting his backing track back LOL...... but who's that getting fifty lashes in the background?..... Ha ha ha... love that rolling ash tray or whatever it was at the end. Most enjoyable; and I love the drawing too, Cheers M

Oh yes I had forgotten that
he used this folk tune for "Wooden Heart" when I started out with this little project.....and I had quite a chuckle at your riposte to my 'poste.....next time I play it on the Ackordeen I'll listen out for any tabletapping !!

cheers

Joyous rapture...
Hey Chris, I can imagine this being a massive hit late in the evening at Oktoberfest, everyone standing on the tables, in joyous rapture with their fellow man (and the occasional woman). The ending is straight out of the Goons. Enjoyed, Peter.

Ja ja, es gefelt mir gut!
I recently learned that even Beethoven mocked German country bands in the 6th Symphony. I guess they have been picked on for a few hundred years.

THis is a really good one Jarvo. As Les says, the almost random crashes by the drummer are superb, as is the mouthpiece (?) that falls to the ground at the end. Apart from this being very clever musically, the sound you've achieved seems to come from a live space where the audience sits in stunned silence.

"This is so far into wickedly pointed parody that it will become a cult hit - absolutely brilliant." - R. Munter, Bayerichemusik Zeitung

Thanks for enjoying our
kleine musik nacht....we did not get this one quite as right as we should have and the boommeister drummer man may well be answering questions as to an early onset disappearance of a bottle of enzian Schnaopps !

I wouldn't
miss this heart felt performance for anything. I remember singing that in school. it is a very infectious melody. You did a bang up job of it, Chris. (I suppose that if one has to leave their love they might have a wooden heart though those words aren't in there.)

Apparently Elvis heard
this being played in a bier keller or stube during his tour of germany whilst in he army......I bet it was n't a patch on our bands performance with arguing tuba players and flying trombone parts....ha...

Thanks for stopping in and I must try not to inflict you wiyh too much Ackordeen ...your very brave for putting up with it ....

Thanks
