Simple Pleasures

Description
Last week I posted SIMPLE PLEASURES and received many kind and thoughtful comments for which I'm grateful but I wasn't quite happy with it as is often the case when I post something.

This time I've gone back and made what I feel are substantial changes. I think this is closer to what I'm after also, clearer and quieter. If you haven't had enough of Simple Pleasures I'd love to hear your opinion on this version.
Thanks,
Charlie

Simple pleasures
I love the swirling melody. There's a delightful lightness to the arrangement. Simply beautiful! Thanks for the download.

I like this take as well, the changes are hard for me to identify, however that does not matter I enjoyed listening again..

Hi Dave,
I have the same problem when I hear revisions. Unless I go back and listen again it's often hard tell what the changes are. Of course to the artist every note either works or doesn't - even a fraction of a second shift can make a difference. In this case I made what I considered substantial changes to the flute, and string melodies, and several key changes within the piece and changed the overall balance of all in the mix. But of course I was "living" with this for days.

Thanks for giving this a second listen Dave and I'm glad this one works for you as well.
Cheers,
Charlie

Hi Charlie.....
I think that the subtleties of the piece you have brought out some more in this version. It seems better (to me) for that and worth your time working on it.

The melodic line needs, in my way of listening, to be brought out a bit more. It is a melody that floats on the breeze, in my minds eye.

Take care.

Paul

I feel
much better about this version as well. The melodic lines at times do "float on the breeze". With this piece it's touch and go with how well defined I wanted them to be but I understand what you're saying.
Thanks Paul.

Charlie

This version is
Lighter with more 'sparkle' and depth, as in distance ( reverb ?)....... it's'livelier' in sound quality too...... still a lovely piece Charlie, regards M

I hope we don't have to welcome you to the club, not that you wouldn't be welcomed but, it IS a disorder ;-)
I know what you mean about those, to others, subtle changes which, to you, make major differences in feel or dynamics, or whatever. As you say, you live closely with every note and nuance and feel each tweak in your soul.
Whatever, Simple Pleasures is a not-so-simple gift. Thanks.

Simple Pleasures: Take 2
Truly wonderful piece and lovely orchestration. So over my guitar strumming head. I don't even know how one begins to write and arrange such a thing. A really enjoyable listen.

always up for a bit of
simple pleasure....not what this though....a nicely complex interweaving of strings and "silver" instruments ,fifes and horns....to my ears anyway ....I haven't seen the vid yet but I bet it's not half as good as what I can conjur up in my own head right now just listening to this.....and no offence to the skaters but that is the power of music and imagination....I promise I will check it out though......Simple Pleasures ....simply wonderful.......

Playfulness
I am particularly taken by the unpretentious way this piece unfolds: it is simplicity itself and never tries to be what it is not. There is a folk quality to the whole composition that gives it a comfortable feeling, a homey feeling, a feeling that all is going to be okay. You have a lot going on in the mix. To my ears, you control each instrument quite well and I have no problem following each line. (end was a bit abrupt. ... The photo art is very appropriate, too. Nice going.

The joys of flutes and strings
You have a style which is immediately recognizable and yet I never tire of hearing it applied to all you create. This is rich and golden, pastoral and simple in the 'grounded in nature' kind of simplicity.

Beautiful, and a now new member of my Mazarakes collection.

Thanks Charlie,
Doug

I think
we all strive for a recognizable sound yet still have a freshness that pleases.
I'm very happy this pleased you my friend.
