Symphony No 33 2nd Movement

The 2nd Movement became a little more animated with a vision of a crashing ocean wave on the rocks.

2nd movement
Plenty of drama from the timpani, but also a lovely lightness in the middle of the piece and something more dramatic towards the end. I am enjoying listening to this unfold! I think you should give it all a name - maybe something like "Ode to Joy" if that hasn't been taken? - that captures the overall spirit of what you're creating here. Excellent, Christopher.

Thank you Philip
I know what you mean by giving it a name, but I have so many pieces with names that I can't. Perhaps its the old creative rust setting in?
Perhaps I will revisit sometime and a name will jump out at me.
Thanks for listening and I hope you enjoy the rest my friend.

Salt spray from the cymbals
I love the lyrical strings contrasted against the boldness of the brass as you progress through the middle of this movement. It's interesting that you kept this movement in 3/4 coming off from the first movement - I didn't expect it, so it's a nice surprise and a tie to the earlier music.

Even with the power you write into sections of this piece, it still retains a lively and light touch as an undercurrent (to me at least).

On to the 3rd.....

Thank you Doug
I like to do things as they are in my head. I never push form values if they aren't there and I always try to stay true to my music. What I hear is what I write and what I write is mine and not what I was told to write. I've always been like that and some people find that hard to take, being free that is!
You my friend take me as I am and for that I thank you.
