the neighborhoods Still hot tonight

Get Flash to see this player.

a combination of going to my 40th HS reunion, first one i have attended, and a bike ride to work, stringing together a stream of jogged memories from friends that are no longer here...or my usual stream of conscienceness that directs most of my stories.

Well the neighborhoods
Still hot tonight
From the afternoons punishing sun
And the electric grid
Is singing a song
And everybody’s windows are humming along

Every morning I pass
A shirtless man
Standing on the corner
Outside of a bar
He’s got a look on his face
Like he is waiting for someone
And I wonder if they ever arrive

Every time I see you I want to say I am sorry
Sorry for slipping away
I get to the edge of where I left you
And you say its ok
Ya you say its ok

The call that never came
I help you out of bed
Down to the store to get your meds

Are you still wondering
Where I am
I can barely hear you from here.

My little book of words
Freshens up my mind
After the storm
Shaving away the promises that I have broken
Picking up the pieces
Listen for your breathing

Some remain
Some are gone
But the brightest lights
That ive ever known

You build the fire and I wander away
You stand there shirtless and waiting

Some are gone
Some remain

Still hot tonight
I like the way you get the "in a dream" character to both the instrumentation and the vocal. Rich imagery in the lyrics. I like the fuzzy sustain on the guitars. That Hoo hoo works well (Rolling Stones "Sympathy for the Devil" in there somewhere?) The whole thing has a Tom Waites character that is very powerful. Excellent work!

The lyric imparts regret and nostalgia, and the backer picks up on the mood. I like the sounds you chose for pads and fills. Understated vocals with the echo effect reinforce the dream-like quality.

I think this must be the expression of sound that goes thru my head whenever I am reflecting on such things. You've tapped into something here and the lyrics teach that the lesson never stops.

only have a short time. It is sad to be the one waiting, for sure. Poignant song, powerfully delivered.

Like straining against a locked door or pulling something that's too big to be moved by yourself. I like it. That kind of intensity is hard to capture without going over the top. Good job.

Sad (perhaps)...
...but I read more of longing and remembering old dreams/reality episodes for no matter what they are/where they just are/is...? I like the composition a lot - has a bit of Syd Barret or Pink Floyd, maybe a bit of The Grateful Dead (and this is coming from my head remind you), the guitars are skillfully and honestly performed, and the lyrics and the vocals...? You are painting little pictures that together is making this story... One can feel that something bigger is behind the whole story, something more personal, and I'll leave it that. Personally these ingredients makes a very good song to me, not being too clear, but leave it up to the listener to add her/his values to the story, and add their own feelings and emotions to it at the same time... With this you have greatly succeeded, this is a wonderful piece of music indeed... Again, just to rephrase, wow on the guitar, especially on the Sigur Ros bow-typ0e of guitar, beautiful! Peace/Mikki

Painting with emotions
You know you are getting old .. when the invitation arrives for your 40th high school reunion : )

This is a sonic painting and your primary colors here are emotions. The stream of consciousness lyrics aren't about making specific statements; they're more about random philosophical musings on current events and the passing of time.

What I mean is, as a listener, I can only dimly perceive your meaning - that my mind automatically imposes its own interpretation on the stream of images flowing by, whether they are intended or not. Hence, it becomes primarily a personal emotional response to "the call that never came" or "the promises I have broken." And lines like that certainly trigger emotions : )

One particular moment in the lyrical mix stands out. The image of homeless man on the corner outside of the bar just kind of drifts by, but when the image comes back in as "you stand there shirtless" one feels an astute connectivity between seemingly random events - it hits home that that shirtless homeless man could be my doppelgänger.

Musically, you continue to push your sonic explorations of multi-tracking voices and instruments. Good stuff. And I love it when that menacing lead guitar growls its way into the spotlight.

Depth in layers
Good track to hear after a two-month absence. I like the diversity in here, bodes well for holding-up to repeated listens. Nice lyrical slice in time. Some real snark in the FX of your harmonies... (esp. "you say it's ok") there... matches the "melted" lead guitar touches well.
