Pennsylvania Rainstorm

An upbeat jazz piece I composed performed by the J422 combo featuring drum set, timbales, tenor sax and guitars. Thought I'd go with something faster for a change!

This has a West African feel imo. Sort of Ghanaian Highlife music. Not so sure about when things speed up though. The timbales don't sound right to me and I don't think you need them in there. They kind of clash with the guitar and sax sounds. My opinion, sorry! But the whole thing has a real nice sunny vibe. Killer bass! Very good music.

No need to be sorry!
I very much appreciate the feedback. I'm always interested in what works and what doesn't sound wise - I do a lot of experimenting. Thank you for listening and for the suggestion!

PA Cloud Burst
Works as advertised. I would suggest an ear to technique. Both the guitar and sax are generic in the use of technique, it's the spice.
The production is effective... maybe the drum loop is too much like surf music for PA?

Thanks for the suggestion. Good point on the sax/guitar tracks - the frenetic passages work well I think but in the slower sections, some more expression is probably a good idea.

Has a lot to like
Hi Michael. I second the African influence. Has Pennsylvania seceded? :-) The piece has a lot to like and the faster sections work well. Thanks for the listen. Regards, Peter.

Bethlehem is multi-cultural :)
My town has a huge Musikfest every year which brings in music from around the world, so we get a fair amount of world music here! I did spend a lot of time on the structure of the piece - maybe I'll punch in some performed tracks to increase the expression a bit. The tempo challenges my ability to play though!
