Take Me Away

This song came after a song I wrote called Be My Baby which I'll post here soon probably. This isn't just about a relational desire that was denied, but about how few real connections I find in the people in my life. Nothing new here, daily lives leave no room for noticing the beauty in the existences of fellow human creatures, or even oneself. This song stems from that feeling of wanting to belong deeply to someone or something.. that I share my temporary existence with.

Finally got another keyboard, so I was able to record a full band which I've been wanting to do for a long time!

I gave my heart
She broke it with a steady hand
I want to leave this place
Let's call it divorce
Life's not what I thought it'd be
Take me back to the source
I need me some relief
From this centripetal force

Take me away
Someone, something
I cannot stay
Like this.. for long
Something must change
This repetition is so plain
And I'm getting bored
Should I play another chord?

Why am I so talented
If nobody wants me
How many times must I try
And still end up lonely
And yes this is a sad song
And now I'm just writing words
Take me over madness
Now everything blurs
Take me over madness
So my heart's no longer hers

Take me away
I'll leave this world
Go to the center
Of a perfect swirl
Or something, anything
Better than here
For now I guess
Just hand me one more beer

Every time
you give your heart away you really do lose a piece of yourself. Fortunately when others give their hearts, they fill up the empty places. That's the give and take of love and the search for a significant wholeness. I get it. Thanks.

Take Me Away
Good song. I like the arrangement - you build it up well and have changes of attack that keep the listener focussed. Everything well played. Emotive vocal. All together it works well. Much enjoyed!

thank you philip
I'm glad you enjoyed this one. This was a mess of intense emotion and I wasn't sure it really came together as a good song, surely an expressive one though

All around performance
I love how you hold those extended notes with your singing .. it really underscores the ache.

A fine song all around .. thoughtfully written, sung and played.
