Waltz For The Orléans Ballroom

This composition was first posted about seven years ago. In those days I only used
orchestral soundfonts that I found for free by rummaging around the internet. Now having
Miroslav Philharmonik I decided to add some layers onto what was originally done and became
instantly pleased with the sound I heard. This was and is intended to be a miniature, short composition.
I also did a little video about the history of the ballroom.

The Orleans Ballroom was part of the Theatre d' Orléans, one of first opera houses built, 1817, in the Americas. It is a very important historic landmark of world music. It was a center for symphonic musicians, many newly arrived from Europe. The Ballroom was so elegant that a grand ball was held there for Marquis de Lafayette. It is now restored and is the main building of a hotel in the French Quarter of New Orleans. There is a lot more to the history of New Orleans music way before Jazz as the first opera company ever, of the Americas was founded and staged in the late 18th century and Baroque music was preformed here around 1720 and on.

Love the historic feel to this
a perfect setting for a movie with major movies stars in a topic involving the 1800's 1700's setting. So much talent on this web site and you surely are one of them! Way to Go Scotty! Very tastefully done in every nook and cranny of the composition! You do wonders with that software!

Gentle yet grand.
Love when it opens up at about 40 seconds. Sweeps you along with its haunting melody. And I love the unhurried pace of it. All the more savor.

Oh! Oh! Oh!
This is so wonderful! I can't wait for the movie to come out that will feature this music and maybe even this ballroom - or a similar one. I can just see the beautiful ladies in their ball gowns and the gentlemen in their ballroom attire. Definitely feels like the 1800s. Excellent.

Great update!
Lovely opening, with that wistful music box sound. Then I love the orchestration when it comes in, too. As always, thanks for the historical notes you add to your posts. They give a connection and context for the music that adds another layer of enjoyment.

A very good piece nicely performed and recorded. Has a bit of a Nino Rota feel to it which is first rate in my book.

Beautiful composition.
I have no idea if I heard the original version but this is superb. Would grace many film sound-tracks nicely and stands well on its own. Thanks for another quality MacJams download.

Lovely Tribute
No doubt this elegant piece would provide a very nice musical background for a historical period film.

Nicely done, Scotty. ;)

Shades of rememberance
This is beautifully orchestrated and such a lovely tune, too. It sets up kind of a gossamer feeling of remembering years gone by in this ballroom, sort of sadly, sort of reluctantly, and still possessing some of the old magic that must have filled this space at one time. I love this little piece and enjoyed listening to it immensely. My only wish is that it were at least twice as long. You have plenty of material to develop it more. I think it would be worth the effort. Very nice, indeed.
