Description
Some things really do "learn the truth at 17". Some synth ambience created on the iPad. This one features some of my patches from the DXi, Thor, Alchemy, Arturia Oberheim SEM and violin (Sampletank). These will all mastered on the iPad Air using Auria. Audiobus and Noatikl (for a few tracks).

just got Alchemy and been playing with it all day. good grief, the options! definitely a learning curve there, and i'm not like a "natural" with synths like a lot of folk.

i like the spaceousness of this one and the blend of soundscapes. so meditative.

i see you zoomed in on one of my biggest unreasonable fears too: bugs.
if it's an inch long or larger, i run like a gurly. heh.

Alchemy
Well on the iPad, Alchemy is basically a preset player that you can tweak a bit - the cicada sounds are from the Alchemy patch and the others are a hodgepodge of FM and analog synth patches I put together. I am a techie at heart so I gravitate to synths. I can't for the life of me understand how finger stimulated oscillators based on high tension strings modulated through an odd shaped wooden resonator can manage to make sound...seems weird to me :)

Hey Mike
Is this the year of the locust?
How appropriate would that be...

Sadly it was...
This past summer was the year of the cicada but it was a bit of a bust - at least in PA. Deforestation and climate change at work (or a global conspiracy of bug genocide). The sounds of cicada's in the 17 year cycle are supposed to be near deafening.

Maybe a meditation number...
I don't get the bugs, but the general sounds you are creating are peaceful, relaxing, etc. It IS fun to fool around with all these possible sounds. The trick is probably to REMEMBER where you found them so you could go back and replicate them. Anyway, this is all free-form. As such, it could literally go on forever. Well, why not...? Might as well have some fun.

Thanks Paul!
You always provide good feedback - I appreciate your taking the time to listen. Aside from the 'bugs' - an alchemy preset that I tweaked, the other patches I got to design (except the violin sample) and did save them - so in theory I can go back to them. I just rarely do! I think I enjoy the sound creation process from the bottom up that synthesizers can provide - though I do resort to samples when I want a certain timbre. There was some artistic intent in the choice of patches in this one, but it certainly is free-form otherwise.
